<strong>Marylands Top Point Guards</strong>
The guard heavy DMV region is loaded with point and combo’s with some of the nation’s best being in Maryland. Here are some of the top point guards regardless of class.
<strong>2022</strong>
As fate would have it the top 5 players in the 2022 class are all point guards with all being nationally ranked in the country.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="25461" first="Kiki" last="Rice"]</strong>
<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-283499" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/05/kiki-scaled-crop-1707x1121-1620851137-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="197" />
KiKi is a national top ten player and is on track for some All American accolades. She is a smart point guard that can score in a variety of ways. Her ability to attack the lane makes it hard on defense because she keeps her head up and finds open players when doubled. Sometimes doubling her isn’t enough as she’s quick enough to split the trap while they are setting up. She chooses her spots to score while getting everyone involved, even with being unselfish she easily drops 20 on the scoresheet.

She has improved both her shot and her finishing percentage at the rim. She has a deadly mid range shot and the ability to take over a game when needed. Watching her rattle off 18 straight points to close out an EYBL game was a thing of beauty. She has been one of the area’s leading scorers since her freshman year but with her improved efficiency it will be interesting to see how high she goes this season.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="137208" first="Gia" last="Cooke"]</strong>
<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-286127" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/05/Gia-Cooke.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" />
Gia is one of the elite players in a guard heavy class. She also has a guard heavy high school team that is one of the best in the country. Playing at such a high level with other elite level guards on and off-season Gia is still able to shine as one of the best of the best.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="137209" first="Ny’Ceara" last="Pryor"]</strong>
<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-193076" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/08/NyCere-Pryor-scaled-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="197" />
I’m very surprised that Ny’Ceara isn’t listed in a lot of the national lists that frequently come out. She has consistently outplayed many guards ranked above her since middle school. She is listed at 5’6" but her speed and shooting ability gives here an advantage over many of the taller guards. She creates good separation to get her shot off and she frequently gets to the line where is a very good free throw shooter.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="137239" first="Regina" last="Walton"]</strong>
Regina has gotten a lot of division one attention before her commitment to Elon. She will take with her a complete array of point guard skills to the CAA combined with excellent outside shooting and has a good chance to be a four year starter in the conference.
<strong>2023</strong>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="142838" first="Channing" last="Williams"]</strong>
Channing was the lead guard in her freshman year for Riverdale Baptist, they played a national schedule and she held her own against some of the top players in the country. She is a true floor general that pushes the ball so that her team can get into their offense immediately.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="163910" first="Kameryn" last="Dorsey"]</strong>
There's one thing that coaches want out of a player at every level is their full effort and Kameryn gives it up from the opening tip. Defensively she is as good as they come, she is a glue player that has picked up a lot playing with and against her older sister who is also a talented guard.
<strong>2024</strong>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="238689" first="Madisen" last="McDaniel"]</strong>
Maddy is a smart guard and has the full point guard package. She has a really good shot from any range and it looks effortless fromm deep. She has great vision and her passes are on the money as she seems to see the play develope well in advance.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="238691" first="Kiyomi" last="McMiller"]</strong>
Kiyomi is probably the most experienced point guard in the DMV regardless of class as she has been playing up at the 17U elite level since elementary school. She is one of if not the top ball handler in the area and her improved shooting makes her really tough to guard.
<strong>Kendal Walker</strong>
Kendal is steadily making a name for herself with phenominal play event after event. She may fall into the under the radar frame because she is a playmaker and is unselfish, however, she has the ability to do everything on the floor. She has college level talent already and the skill to be a go to player on any team.
<strong>2025</strong>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="239389" first="Emma" last="NuQuay"]</strong>
<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-221885" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/11/DSC_0694-1-300x199.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="199" />
Emma has been impressive since the sixth grade. She has always had a consistent deep ball and that hasn’t changed. Her vision on the court is really good and she is a very crafty point guard that has picked up and mastered a variety of pro-level signature moves. Her game is remnicent of Ashley Owusu one of the better point guards to come out of the WCAC not a collegiate all American.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="239477" first="Princess" last="Moody"]</strong>
<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-258981" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/02/20210227_134328.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" />
Princess has a slim athletic frame that allows her to navigate through traffic and get into the lane in tight spaces. She is good in transition and has a good three point shot. She has all the tools in place to be a national top 20 player by her senior season.
<strong>Caliyah Divillasee</strong>
Caliyah has a full arsenal of tricks in her bag. She can handle the ball very well with either hand and get around most defenders with ease. She already has received some D-1 offers and will have many more in the near future.
