Prep Hoops spoke with Coach Moberly about his team. Coach Moberly has a great returning nucleus that took the Broncos to their first regional appearance in their young school history. We preview several returning players that are primed to make another jump in the 11th region this season. Two players, Allison Wallace Allison Wallace 5'9" | SF Frederick Douglass | 2022 State KY and Kate Baker Kate Baker 5'4" | PG Frederick Douglass | 2025 State KY are ranked in our Prep Girls Hoops Player Database.
Top Returner: Allison Wallace Allison Wallace 5'9" | SF Frederick Douglass | 2022 State KY , West Alabama signee, will be a key performer for the Broncos this season. Wallace has averaged 13ppg & 5rpg the past two seasons. Look for the Kentucky Ice product to make major strides on both sides of the ball. She will have more developed, offensive weapons around her this season and will have more opportunities to maintain her high efficiency around the rim.
Top Defender: Bradley Price, another returning senior starter, will be counted on to be the consistent, hard-nosed defender for Coach Moberly and the coaching staff. Her tenacious, ball-hawking basketball IQ will cause disruptions in the passing lanes and turn into easy offense for the Broncos. Look for Price to expand her playmaking abilities on the offensive end this season.
Kennedi Brooks and Bresha Love are two seniors that will be crucial for the team’s success. Both players will need to improve their offensive consistency from last season.
Top Underclassman: Ayanna-Sarai Darrington, a rising sophomore, nearly averaged a double-double last season for the Broncos. Darrington is a three-sport athlete competing in volleyball, track and field, and basketball. She is a raw athlete that Coach Moberly has high expectations for her to turn the corner this season and put everything together. Look for Darrington to continue to have success around the paint and at the free-throw line. If she eliminates turnovers and shows consistency along the perimeter, Darrington can expect college coaches to have on her their radar.
Top Shooter: Kate Baker Kate Baker 5'4" | PG Frederick Douglass | 2025 State KY , #5 PG in the class of 2025, was second on the team in three-point makes last season. Coach Moberly loves the playmaking potential that Baker possesses. If she is able to improve her skills as a scorer at all three levels, she will add another piece to the Broncos potent offense. Baker is a combo guard that will have her hands full guarding other top playmakers in the 11th region. Look for Baker to continue to develop her confidence and become a solid contributor for the Broncos this season.
Players we will keep an eye on as the season unfolds: rising 8th grader, Reagan Gregonis, and the new transfer from Woodford County, Niah Rhodes Niah Rhodes 5'7" | CG Frederick Douglass | 2025 State KY . Look for both players to earn meaningful minutes to become impact players!
