This can come from one singular play as well as from a solid all around day. We’re going to look at some of the players that were head turners at Let’s Get Ready V.
Makenna Clement Makenna Clement 6'1" | PF Lake Fenton | 2023 State MI (2023, PF, Lake Fenton)
Clement sent a message with her work on the glass at the event. Often times, she won the battle for the boards with pure hustle alone. She didn’t just grab the boards, but often times pushed the ball with a downcourt pass directly off the rebound.
Jada Collins Jada Collins 6'1" | SF Kalamazoo Central | 2024 State MI (2024, SF, Kalamazoo Central)
Collins gained a lot of attention over the course of the day with her mid range jumper. She snapped it off with quickness and confidence. Collins even showed a step back mid range jumper that was really tough to defend.
Mary Copple Mary Copple 5'7" | PG Brighton | 2023 State MI (2023, PG, Brighton)
Copple has had a fantastic fall and that continued at Let’s Get Ready V. On Saturday, she cemented the fact that she’s a premier 3 point shooter in the state of Michigan.
Hailey Freshcorn Hailey Freshcorn 5'8" | PG Columbia Central | 2024 State MI (2024, PG, Onsted)
Freshcorn has a ton of upside as a prospect and it was easy to see why on Saturday. She goes HARD all the time. Freshcorn didn’t just do the drill work at the beginning of the day, but she ATTACKED the drills.
Sela Lefler Sela Lefler 5'6" | PG North Farmington | 2023 State MI (2023, PG, North Farmington)
Lefler can shoot, we’ve all known that for a while. At Let’s Get Ready, she turned my head with a dribble move that I hadn’t really seen from her before. Lefler changed direction by taking the ball behind her back in both directions, which sent defenders scrambling.
Liv Linden Liv Linden 5'7" | SG Hartland | 2023 State MI (2023, CG, Hartland)
Linden really impressed me with her ability to keep her teammates involved. She does a great job creating for her teammates off the dribble as well as swinging the ball and finding shooters.
Zar’ria Mitchell Zar’ria Mitchell 5'7" | PG Heritage | 2023 State MI (2023, CG, Heritage)
Mitchell garnered a lot of attention with her ball handling at the event. She can go with both hands and switched ball hands with lightning speed. Mitchell creates a lot of opportunities with her ability to control the basketball.
Trinity Starling Trinity Starling 6'1" | SF East Kentwood | 2023 State MI (2023, SF, East Kentwood)
Starling certainly turned heads at Let’s Get Ready V. I was impressed with her combination of strength and athleticism. This was especially evident when she finished underneath. Starling would go up and through defenders, as well as finish athletically with strong body and ball control.
Deyonce Thompson Deyonce Thompson SG East Kentwood | 2022 State MI (2022, SG, East Kentwood)
Thompson’s ability to break down defenders turned my head at Let’s Get Ready V. Specifically, her start-stop speed stood out to me. She could pull up or change directions on a dime.
Emily Valencia (2024, SG, Clarkston)
My head turned in Valencia’s direction when I watched her work the baseline. She sealed her defender underneath and got open looks at the rim. Her mid range baseline jumper looked terrific.
