That doesn’t mean that when you tag me in your game videos on Twitter I’m not watching them, I most definitely am. It’s just that they may not make it into this piece – which was originally intended to be daily and now with the rigors of the regular season looks like it may be more like a weekly or bi-weekly piece. That being said, keep tagging me. I have already made notes on my ranking spreadsheet about a few players who need to be moved up based on good things that I saw on their tape and I could do the same for you. Keep sharing and keep working hard on the court during games and especially in practice!
Kourtney Wright | 5-8 CG | Bixby | 2027 | @Kourt_Wright12
Today we’re gonna talk about several younger players who tagged me in their highlights. First, we have a youngster from Bixby who looks to be a tremendous young talent. Of course, you wouldn’t expect anything less from a Spartan, would you? Let me start by saying this highlight reel is a great representation of what Kourtney can do. I love when a player/parent/coach actually includes all facets of the game in the highlight reel. I don’t need to see just made shots. I need to see everything the player can do. With this video, I got just that. She can shoot it, that’s for sure. Long arms, nice high release. Better than that, she is already playing high-level defense. Picking up her opponent at mid-court, one-on-one, and sticking to them tightly. Forcing turnovers, tons of pressure, and doing it in a way that doesn’t get her into foul trouble. She has good handles that will no doubt get better, but her speed and quickness is already enabling her to get by defenders who are overpursuing thanks to her ability to hit from deep. She has great vision and an IQ that is pretty far above what one would expect from a 2027. I look forward to watching Wright develop and I still stand amazed at how bright the future is for the Bixby Spartans.
Kenzie Denny | 5-8 G | Bartlesville | 2026 | Hudl
There really isn’t much video here, so I did some extra research on my own and found her Hudl. Kenzie clearly has great size for a player still in middle school. A 5’8″ guard is great to have and with the possibility that she will grow even more over the next five years, college coaches should already have her on their shortlist. In the video, we can see that Denny has good form, a nice high release and no fear of being blocked thanks to her good elevation, long arms, and ability to get the shot off quickly. On her highlight videos, we see a lot of two really good things. She can shoot it from long range. Secondly, she plays really good defense and uses her length really well to mess up the flow of the opposing offense. She is quick and does a good job of stepping into the passing lane and securing the ball for her squad. Her handles are above average, as well. Kenzie is definitely going to be one to keep an eye on – and not just because of her great height!
Emma Zimmerman | 5-3 G | Bartlesville | 2026 | Hudl
One thing I can tell you about Emma from watching the videos on Hudl (not so much the one that I was tagged in on Twitter). She needs the nickname the Cookie Monster. Why you ask? Because she puts her hand in the cookie jar and leaves it there. Just watch the video. She is unafraid to let it fly and she will let that hand hang up there nice and high. I mean, when your jump shot is a thing of beauty like that, why not stand there and admire it for a little, right? That being said, in the video on Twitter, it looks like a designed play for Zimmerman where she gets separation and hits a quick stepback three – unfortunately, not as much time to enjoy her work. Speaking of work – in that particular game – a 39-36 win over Union, Emma had 15 of her team’s points and hit four three-pointers. It is clear to see where her talent lies. I look forward to getting to Bartlesville and seeing Emma lighting it up for the Bruins sometime in the near future. A shot that sweet has to be enjoyed in person!
Kylie Ross Kylie Ross 5'5" | PG Mt. St. Mary | 2025 State OK | 5-4 CG | Mount St. Mary | 2025 | @kylie2025
On the eve of her first game in high school, it’s time to take a look at the video of the last scrimmage of her first season of high school – makes sense, right? Anyway… Kylie is an absolute baller, y’all. Just look at the video. Right as the first Candy Crush notification pops up, you’ll see that she has a great stop and pop. Then she hits an absolutely glorious reverse layup that I have seen hundreds of players attempt and about five make. She scores with both hands, inside and outside and makes it look easy. Having seen her in person play multiple games, I can tell you that Kylie is a very good defender and a great teammate as well. There really isn’t anything you could ask from her that she doesn’t have unless it is a few more inches in height which to be honest could still come seeing as how she’s only a freshman and all. Ross is going to be a legit star for the Rockets and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for both her and her team!
