We are now onto the fifth full week of the season and we have some great games in front of us. Coming out of winter break we will kick off the week with a strong early slate of games. This is our breakdown of the week ahead.

<strong>Monday</strong>: Central Lyon (7-1) vs Estherville Lincoln Central (10-0) 6:00pm
Both of these teams have been playing well this year and meet on Monday night in a game that should be a battle. Central Lyon’s lone loss came to West Lyon and they have been really good since then. Central Lyon has been led by sophomore Desta Hoogendoorn who scores 13.1 points per game. Junior [player_tooltip player_id="160568" first="Addison" last="Klosterbuer"] has also turned in 13.1 points a game to help lead Central Lyon. For Estherville Lincoln Central [player_tooltip player_id="311389" first="Haylee" last="Stokes"] leads the team with 17.4 points per game. [player_tooltip player_id="129065" first="Kaitlyn" last="Tendal"] scores 15.9 points per game to help lead her team to a perfect 10-0 start. This is going to be a great game between these two teams.
<strong>Tuesday</strong>: East Buchanan (7-1) vs North Linn (9-1) 5:30pm
Both of these teams have gotten off to great starts to the season as each just have one loss on the year. Both of these teams are looking like they’ll be seeing each other at Wells Fargo at the end of the year. They have played tough schedules thus far this season and have a lot of wins to show for it. East Buchanan is led by freshman [player_tooltip player_id="342195" first="Laynee" last="Hogan"] as she scores 15.4 points a game. [player_tooltip player_id="129032" first="Lauren" last="Donlea"], a senior, and <strong>Averiel Brady</strong>, a junior, also are notable players for East Buchanan as they score 13.3 points a game and 10.4 points a game respectively. North Linn has been led all year by sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="246105" first="Kamryn" last="Kurt"] as she scores 19.5 points a game. Fellow sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="314107" first="Macy" last="Boge"] scores 12.8 points a game and senior <strong>Chloe VanEtten</strong> scores 11.6 points a game.
<strong>Thursday</strong>: Spencer (7-2) vs Cherokee (7-2) 6:15pm
Spencer and Cherokee will face off on Thursday in what should be a great measuring stick for both of these teams heading into 2022. Spencer has losses to Sioux City East and Unity Christian while Cherokee has lost to Bishop Heelan and Estherville Lincoln Central. None of those losses that they have had this year are bad losses by any means. Spencer has been led by senior [player_tooltip player_id="129086" first="Allison" last="Piercy"] who has scored 13.4 points a game this year. Senior<strong> Jada Piercy</strong> has added in 10.6 points as well for her team. [player_tooltip player_id="63049" first="Kenna" last="Mongan"], a junior, leads the charge for Cherokee as she scores 15.3 points a game. Senior [player_tooltip player_id="129047" first="Alexis" last="Pingel"] adds in 13.3 points a game for the team. This is going to be a very good game on a light Thursday of action.
<strong>Friday</strong>: Underwood (8-1) vs Treynor (9-1) 6:00pm
Underwood and Treynor are set to do battle on a Friday that is filled with action. Underwood comes in playing some great basketball and Treynor is doing the same. Both of these teams look like they are going to be contenders for a state title this year. Underwood has been led this season by sophomore <strong>Alizabeth Jacobsen</strong> who scores 13.3 points a game. Senior <strong>Kendra Kuck</strong> has scored 13.8 points a game this year but has played in a few less games than Jacobsen. Treynor is led by junior [player_tooltip player_id="342204" first="Clara" last="Teigland"] who scores 15.4 points a game and sophomore <strong>Alex Schwartz</strong> adds in 11.9 points per game.
<strong>Saturday</strong>: Monticello (6-3) vs Regina Catholic (7-2) 3:30pm
In a very light Saturday schedule there is one game that sticks out to us. That is the Monticello and Regina Catholic matchup as both of these groups have played solid basketball so far this season. Monticello and Regina Catholic are exceeding expectations a bit as they have some good wins on their schedules. Monticello is led by freshman [player_tooltip player_id="311367" first="Jayden" last="Kuper"] who scores 13.2 points a game and brings down 10.0 rebounds per contest. Regina Catholic is led by a trio of players as junior [player_tooltip player_id="63024" first="Grace" last="Gaarde"] leads the team with 12.7 points a game. Freshman [player_tooltip player_id="311391" first="Morgan" last="Miller"] scores 11.3 points a game and senior <strong>Lily Simpson</strong> scores 10.3 points a game.
