The Class of 2023 has a strong presence of perimeter players, both at the point and on the wing. As far as lead guards go, our Top-200 is home to 45 of them, making up 22.5% of all 2023 prospects ranked in Indiana. It is their job to take care of the ball and initiate the offense, but this class specifically has several talented playmakers, and a number of young ladies who can put the ball in the basket from just about anywhere. Below is a look at those 45 prospects, as well as some added information and analysis on a handful of girls who have stood out since our last rankings update in September.

Triton | 2023
IN
, 2023, 5-3 PG, Triton H.S.
– Kinsey is a fairly strong, tough-nosed, and hard-working little guard. She is a nice all-around athlete, and she is effective at both ends of the floor. Offensively, she can initiate the offense, break down the defense off the dribble, and find teammates. She’s also a solid finisher and shooter. Defensively, she can defend the ball all over the floor, and she rebounds her position fairly well.

Center Grove | 2023
IN
, 2023, 5-6 CG, Center Grove H.S.
– Emily is less-familiar around the state because she is also a talented soccer player and isn’t as heavily involved with grassroots basketball. But she is one of many talented guards for the Lady Trojans, she has speed and quickness, nice length, and she can create & distribute or knock down open shots. She also defends with a nice motor.
Abigail Rouse

Delta | 2023
IN
, 2023, 5-3 PG, Delta H.S.
– Abby is a nice, quick, feisty point guard who has steadily improved each season. She has really worked on her handle and creativity, but she’s also a capable shooter with some range. While her team has struggled at times this Winter, she has still managed to average 10.4 points and 2.3 assists per game, while knocking down 35 3-pointers in 18 games played.

Andrean | 2023

, 2023, 5-7 CG, Andrean H.S.
– Lauren is a long-for-her-height, quick/fast, and versatile guard. She has a solid handle and can play on the point, running offense and finding teammates. She also has nice touch around the perimeter, but she’s being more assertive attacking the basket and finishing inside. Defensively, her length and quickness really bother opposing guards. She still needs some strength but has nice upside.

Carroll (Fort Wayne) | 2023
State
IN
, 2023, 5-7 CG Carroll H.S. (Fort Wayne)
– Kayla is another guard who just continues to improve each time I see her. She’s a nice all-around athlete with length, wiry strength, and solid athleticism in all directions. She plays both on and off the ball equally well, and she’s able to defend multiple types of players. In a much bigger role this year, she has more than doubled her scoring (5.7 to 11.6) and increased her rebounds, assists, and steals.

Terre Haute North Vigo | 2023
State
IN
, 2023, 5-7 CG, Terre Haute North Vigo H.S.
– Preslee is a strong, aggressive, tough-nosed combo guard, but this season she has taken on more of a traditional point guard role for the Lady Patriots. She has scored in double figures nine times with a high of 20 points, but it’s her increase to 3.6 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game this year that has really helped North Vigo’s success. I look for her to have a big Spring season as well.
Keep an eye on…

Paoli | 2023

IN
, 2023, 5-7 PG, Paoli H.S.
– I’ve always enjoyed watching Jackie play, because she’s just steady. She plays with a great motor, she affects the game at both ends of the floor, and she’s a nice all-around athlete with some length. Offensively, she can knock down an open shot or create offense for teammates, and defensively she’s able to play on the ball or bother passing lanes from help-side.
Isabella Gizzi

New Palestine | 2023
State
IN
, 2023, 5-7 PG, New Palestine H.S.
– Isabella has put together an explosive year offensively for a Lady Dragons team who needed the boost. She is up to 20.7 points per game (from 13.8 last year), and she has had games of 31, 33, and 40 points. She is also averaging close to 10 free throws per game and shooting it at an 84% clip from the line. Her rebounds, assists, and steals have also increased, while her turnovers have decreased.

Twin Lakes | 2023
State
IN
, 2023, 5-6 PG, Twin Lakes H.S.
– On a team with talented guards in 2024 and 2025, Addi has still managed to be a high-level contributor and leader for Twin Lakes. Addi has great length, she’s quick/fast, and she can create offense or knock down an open jumper. She’s a scrappy defender, as she can defend on the ball or create steals from help-side. If she can continue gaining strength it will help her finish at the basket.
