As the season has come to an end, and our updated rankings have been released, we would like to share with you some players that were impact players for their teams.
[player_tooltip player_id="318508" first="Timya" last="Thurman"]. Timya is a standout literally, standing at 6-5 her presence on the court is seen and felt. She is a great defender and is one of the top shot blockers in the state, offensively once given the ball in the post it’s a bucket. Timya was recently chosen 1st Team 6A All-State and already has offers from several major Power 5 college programs.
Next up is [player_tooltip player_id="318507" first="Naomi" last="Jones"] from Jackson, she is another player that makes her presence felt on the court. Standing at 6-2, with a college body, he can run the floor, is effective on offense, and is a relentless defender. Another 1st teamer on the 4A All-State Team with numerous Power 5 offers.
[player_tooltip player_id="324022" first="Rudi" last="Derrick"]. Good Hope made a great run this year, and Rudi was one of the reasons for this. She is a great scorer for this team, creating her own opportunity to score, seeing the floor, and getting the ball to her teammates in order for them to score. Rudi is also a defensive nightmare, look for Good Hope to make a run to the state title game next year.
Now we have [player_tooltip player_id="324040" first="Hope" last="West"], she is the true meaning of a student-athlete with a 4.26 GPA and stellar career she has established at Brewer since her freshman, this makes her one of the quiet giants this article is about. Hope is the standout on her team in many ways; scoring, rebounding, making assists and just being that leader on the floor.
[player_tooltip player_id="330736" first="Jordyn" last="Bailey"] is a member of the Athens Lady Golden Eagles and has been so since her freshman year. Her ability to score and be a great defender has helped build this team's foundation for future success under the 1st year leadership of Coach Capriee Tucker and the direction she has set as goals for this program. Jordyn will be a vital part of this future with her ability to shot the trey ball and defensively get those steals. She will be a standout player next season.
These "Quiet Giants" include some that are not in the top 10 rankings, but they work very hard on and off the court, and most of all get the job done for their respectively teams.
