One of the first AAU events to occur this year across North Carolina was the LBI March Madness event at Carolina Courts in Concord. The venue welcomed teams from South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia for two days of what was exciting basketball.
We at Prep Girls Hoops also made it out to Cabarrus County. As the performances of the freshman class displayed, if it is any indication of how the rest of the travel slate will go, it is certain to be a good one.
Alexis Shehan Alexis Shehan 6'0" | SF Lake Norman | 2025 State NC – 2025 – Lake Norman HS – Lady Attack Elite 15U National – When her team took on South Carolina-based KST Academy in one of the first contests of the weekend tournament, Shehan established herself early and often as someone who will attack the basket and put points on the board. Out of the first 10 points that the team scored, six were courtesy of Shehan. She will play tough perimeter defense and will keep her hands out when defending. Shehan will also make things happen in the transition game. She finished with 10 points in the victory over KST Academy 15U.
Ranon Suttle Ranon Suttle 5'9" | SF Union Academy | 2025 State NC – 2025 – 1 of 1 Prep Academy – Lady Attack Elite 15U National – Do not let her last name fool the mind … Suttle’s game is anything but subtle. She will score via a pull up midrange jumper or increase her team’s total by three via downtown. Her rebounding abilities compliment what she can get done from long range. Given she is a consistent threat from deep, defenses can be thrown off guard by how she is also threat to score via driving to the rim and she is talented as a ball handler. Suttle finished with 11 points in Lady Attack Elite 15U National’s victory over South Carolina-based KST Academy to begin the tournament.
Jodi King Jodi King 5'10" | PF 1 Of 1 Prep | 2025 State NC – 2025 – 1 of 1 Prep Academy – Lady Attack Elite 15U National – LBI March Madness was the first of a number of tournaments for the team this AAU season. King began her 2022 AAU campaign with a bang. She is listed at 5-foot-9 and particularly makes things happen in the frontcourt. Leave her open with the ball from 3-point range and there is a good chance that will splash through as well. Miss a shot with King waiting near the rim and there is a good chance that is a King rebound waiting to happen. She scored 15 points in her team’s victory over South Carolina-based KST Academy and a 23-point, nine-rebound outing against FBC Queen City UA 15U.
Tionna Pettus Tionna Pettus 5'8" | PF Bessemer City | 2025 NC – 2025 – Bessemer City HS – Queen City Ballers – A conversation of premier freshmen across North Carolina likely will include Pettus’ name. A transfer from Comenius HS in Fort Mill, South Carolina, Pettus primarily plays at the three or the four while also finding time to play in the backcourt as a one or two. In addition to what she can do as a ball hawk and shot blocker, she is a consistent double-double threat on a game-by-game basis with how she scores and how she does work on the glass. Pettus averaged a double-double (15.4 points, 11.7 rebounds) this past season with the Yellow Jackets and managed an 11-point effort in a victory over South Carolina-based KST Academy 15U on Saturday.
