The 2021-2022 season saw some incredible young ball players suit up for their varsity team. These ladies held their own, coming away with accolades as well as solidifying themselves as cornerstones for their clubs future success. Mark my words, this is a special class with some very talented individuals. As we continue to cover this class, we would like to take the time out to showcase some young ladies whose stock is on the upswing.
Reese Beaty Reese Beaty 5'8" | PG York Institute | 2025 State TN (5’7/PG/Fr./York Institute)– Highly-touted young lady who already has some D1 offers on her plate. THis young lady is a tough kid who can handle the rock. Has great court vision, can score it from all 3 levels. Phenomenal with putting the ball on the floor and finishing at the rim. Looks to get her teammates involved early in the game. Doesn’t force the issue and lets the game come to her. Talented kid who will be a beast for years to come.
TaTianna Stovall TaTianna Stovall 6'1" | SF Bradley Central | 2025 State TN (5’11/SF/Fr./ Webb-Bell Buckle)– Once she got adjusted to the speed of the HS game, it was all she wrote. Skies are the limit for this young lady. Multi-level scorer who goes hard on both ends of the floor. Sweet jumper, contributes on the boards, goes after loose balls, you name it. Fundamentally sound with a little sauce in her game. Great kid who is fun to watch. Look for her to be a force for years to come throughout her HS and collegiate career.
Lazaviona Hawkins Lazaviona Hawkins 5'6" | PG Goodpasture Christian | 2025 State TN (5’6/PG/Fr./ Goodpasture)– Speed. Speed. And more speed. This floor general is quick. With cat-like reflexes, she causes havoc all over the place. She can disrupt a defense by slashing through gaps and getting to the rim, letting it fly from beyond the arc, or using her quick first step to unleash a pull-up or floater mid-range. A lockdown defender who looks to pry balls loose. Phenomenal in the transition game, look for her to take tremendous strides this upcoming summer. Big offers for her are on the horizon.
Lauren Hurst Lauren Hurst 6'3" | PF Cleveland | 2025 State TN (6’3/PF/ Fr./ Cleveland)– 2 sport athlete (volleyball) who is coming on strong on the hardwood. Athletic with crazy jumping ability. Was hurt early in the season, but now has fully recovered. Can score the rock from the painted area. Anticipates well, where she can clean miss shots and put them back. Has great footwork where she can either play face up or with her back to the basket. Defensively, she is tough to deal with. Can block shots, control the boards, and can handle the ball to start transition breaks. Add her ability to shoot plus the ball handling, she’s one tough kid and you need to keep your eye on her as she continues to develop. Skill plus height, not a bad combination to have.
