Pinkney was a major surprise for me for 2 reasons, first of all, I don’t remember ever seeing her play and she’s from outside of my home town which could mean numerous things on why I missed her yet the main thing is that I caught her and she performed very well. Her size and skill-set set it off, she attacks the basket strongly and finishes multiple ways after contact but she also creates her shot, and watching her elevate on the pull-up was nice yet was equally as nice as her timing to block, alter and deflect shots
Za’Kenya Thompson-5’6 G (Spring HS) Houston Lady Nets 2024 [2024]
Thompson is one of several talented players on this eye-opening squad and what I really like even more after seeing them 5 or 5 times this season is the ability of players other than Taylor Spencer who simply step up to the plate. What got me more than anything was watching her work in the paint, she understands positioning, she uses her body well and just falls into that “you won’t outwork me” category yey she can fall into several categories like being undersized and cleaning up the boards yet her powerful finishes, including after contact have got to be mentioned as well but I guess her dropping the floater capped it for me
Kylie Ross Kylie Ross 5'5" | PG Mt. St. Mary | 2025 State OK -5’6 PG (Mt. St. Marys HS) Oklahoma Aces 2024 Vick [2025]
Ross is no discount player, well don’t discount her because always remember that the game starts at the 1. Her ability to run a team was one of the best I saw all weekend, she understands how to control the tempo when to push it, and when not to push it, yet her court-vision also was one of the best, and when you can throw blazing passes on the money between defenders over and over, that speaks volumes, so did her ball-handling yet hse also scored nicely off the dribble as well as using the jumper to drop the mid to long-range
Lexi Price-5’9 G (Lovelady HS) Texas Platinum 2024 Bruce [2025]
Price as in “THIS PRICE IS RIGHT” and after catching a glimpse of her at a school tournament, I was amazed at how good she was which proves you can be on the wrong club team so observing her with the right fit, she just solidified everything I saw a few months ago, her poise and BB-IQ are definitely ahead of her years, so is her pull-up jumper which she creates under pressure and knocks it down from mid to long-range
Kayla Hill-5’5 G (Putnam HS) Supreme Trotters 2024 [2025]
Hill as in “climb up the” because the first thing that just grabbed me was her UPS and looking at her listed size, I’m even more amazed at what she did. It’s one thing to outrebound taller players but she BATTLED for everything off the rim, keep in mind her size yet her attacking the basket with an explosive first step and finishing after contact, showing impressive body control were all nice, so was her pull-up jumper. Solid “on the ball” defender, she also played the passing lane and came away with numerous steals
