The Class of 2023 has a strong presence of perimeter players, both at the point and on the wing. As far as lead guards go, our Top-200 is home to 43 of them, making up 21.5% of all 2023 prospects ranked in Indiana. It is their job to take care of the ball and initiate the offense, but this class specifically has several talented playmakers, and a number of young ladies who can put the ball in the basket from just about anywhere. Below is a look at those 43 prospects, as well as some added information and analysis on a handful of girls who have stood out since our last rankings update in January.

– Laney popped up on my radar during the high school season, as she was a really nice compliment to Senior guard

. Laney is a long, wiry, fluidly athletic guard who does a little of everything well. She can handle, run offense, knock down open shots, and defend multiple positions. She’s also very active at both ends of the floor.

, 2023, 5-4 PG, Homestead H.S.
– I saw Evie for the first time at the Shamrock tournament in mid-March. She is a tough-nosed, feisty, quick, and athletic point guard who always seems to play with a nice motor. She loves to push tempo in transition, and she has her head up scanning the floor for open teammates. In what I’ve seen, I haven’t seen her shoot often, so I still want to evaluate that part of her game.

, 2023, 5-6 CG, Northridge H.S.
– Savannah transferred into Northridge from Concord during the Summer of 2021, and due to transfer restrictions, she couldn’t play for the Lady Raiders this season. Look for her to have a big Spring & Summer, as she is a highly skilled, strong, tough-nosed combo guard who has a nice feel for the game. She has good vision and a strong handle, and she can consistently knock down open shots.

, 2023, 5-7 PG, Valparaiso H.S.
– I haven’t seen Kristin much on the grassroots scene, but she is playing this Spring & Summer, and it should benefit her recruiting nicely. She is extremely long, North/South fast, and she is a playmaker off the dribble. She can get to the basket in an instant, and she can knock down open jumpers. She also defends with energy. She’ll need to show an ability to change speeds and sense tone.

, 2023, 5-6 CG, Lakeland H.S.
– Peyton has always been a nice basketball player, but now she is approaching the point guard position with more of an appreciation for taking care of the basketball, getting it where it needs to go, and understanding situations. If she can continue this trend, while also still being able to make plays for herself and others, I think it will only benefit her. I also like the energy she plays with.

, 2023, 5-5 PG, Jeffersonville H.S.
– Sophia put together a really nice Winter for the Lady Red Devils, and in what limited time I’ve been able to see her this Spring, she is playing with good strength and control, running offense like a true floor general. She looks so much stronger, but she still has quick feet and is quick with the ball. She can knock down shots when defenders play off of her, and she competes each possession.

– Hannah first stood out to me last Spring at an event in Indy. She is a long, wiry-strong, quick, fast, and very active guard. She likes to make plays in transition, she does a nice job of getting into the heart of the defense and causing problems, and she can score it a little at all levels. She’s used to being one of the best athletes on the floor; I’m anxious to see her against grassroots competition.
