The Saturday of the event was jam-packed full of contests. While the lion’s share of the players and teams that made the trek to Chicago were from the Midwest, there were teams from plenty of other areas as well – including the Rocky Mountains, the southwest and the southeast.
Those that were taking part were especially determined to bring their A-games given it was a live period event. Needless to say, the 2024 and 2025 classes did just that.
Emily Huxtable – 2024 – Rampart HS – P.L.U.T.O. Prospects 2024 – Huxtable may have been playing at a bit less altitude than what she is used to in the Centennial State, but she brought every bit of that play with her to the Land of Lincoln. Huxtable does a bit of everything – score, pass, rebound and get the ball out of the hands of an opposing ball carrier. She averaged 15.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 3.2 assists in the 23 games she played in 2021-22 with the Rams. In one of the early games Huxtable played in on Saturday, she scored 12 points – all in the first half of a 53-37 P.L.U.T.O. Prospects 2024 win over Team Firstep 2024.
Brooklynn Holmberg – 2025 – Prior Lake HS – MN Metro Stars 2025 – This Brooklynn is one of the many queens of the court in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. She previously ran on the grassroots circuit with Minnesota Fury before sporting Metro Stars green. Holmberg will deliver on the 3-point shot and can also deliver at the free throw line. She went five out of six from the charity stripe in a matchup with City Elite Basketball 2025 along with only being called for one personal foul. She finished with 12 points in that matchup with resulted in a 59-49 victory for MN Metro Stars 2025.
Brandi Washington – 2025 – Fridley HS – MN Metro Stars 2025 – Currently listed at 5-foot-5, Washington had a breakout freshman campaign with the Tigers in 2021-22. She knows how to take care of the ball and limit turnovers. Her offensive skillset also includes the ability to knock down the 3-pointer and the one-pointer at the free throw line. She is not afraid of contact and one can only wonder how good she will be once she becomes a junior and then a senior. Washington went for 12 points in MN Metro Stars 2025’s 59-49 victory over City Elite Basketball 2025 on Saturday afternoon.
Jayla Johnson – 2025 – Olympia HS – Candace Parker Hoop Dreams Elite 3SSB 2025 – Johnson plays for a team with Candace Parker in its name – she brings a very Candace-esque attitude whenever she steps on the court. Johnson puts herself in perfect position to collect a good deal of rebounds. Scoring-wise, she can and will put points on the board from anywhere on the court – either behind the 3-point line or at the free throw line on the heels of drawing contact. In one of Saturday afternoon’s contests at M14 Hoops Academy, Johnson went for 18 points in a game against Chapman Basketball Academy 2025.
Annabelle Babb – 2024 – Meade County HS – Team Firstep 2024 – Annabelle is a name that is surely ringing bells across the Kentucky high school hoops realm. Babb is fresh off a 2021-22 season that saw her Waves advance to the quarterfinals of the KHSAA state tournament. She will definitely get her fair share of contact which can place her at the free throw line. Babb superbly runs the floor and this can create opportunities for her and/or one of her teammates to get out in transition. Babb scored 11 points on Saturday afternoon in a Team Firstep 57-49 victory over Full Package 2024 Black. Throughout her athletic career, Babb has also played soccer.
Juliana Stith – 2025 – Central Hardin HS – Team Firstep 2024 – Stith is playing a year above her class with the 2024 Team Firstep rendition. She is the sort of player that makes other actual 2024s up their competition. Stith can connect on floaters and also get the ball into her hands from those of an opponent. She can also be efficient from behind the 3-point line and uses the traits that she has gained through running track and field also to her advantage. When Team Firstep matched up against Full Package 2024 Black, Stith concluded the game with an 11-point outing.
