Here are some players who played well today. Coming up this week will be my Victory Region 16U and 15U all-tournament teams, along with some young guns who were impressive this weekend.
Most of these players were from Victory Region teams with a couple of others sprinkled in.
Khania Jones, 2025, Team Firstep 16U
Saw her have a solid game this morning, she is along athletic rebounder who is still a raw player, but has a knack for the ball. She rebounds outside of her position and can guard the 1-5. Uses length to alter shots and runs the floor well, gets back in transition defense. Has good handles and can push the ball north-south in transition.
Kamaria Page, 2025, Michigan Playmakers 2024
She is small in stature, but she is large in talent. She is su fiery and an active on-ball defender, can trap and force turnovers for her team. Has great speed, can fly in the open court. Good handles with both hands and is able to distribute the ball. Can get to the rim and finish with either hand.
Ryan Thue, 2024, Metro Stars
One player outside of my region who I was impressed with was the hard working and competitor from the Stars, 2024 Ryan Thue. She has excellent range and was not afraid to let it fly. She gets into the passing lane and can create for her team. In addition to her perimeter game, is is capable to finishing around the rim and has a good basketball IQ.
Ellie Knapp, 2023, 5 Star 2023
Got to see her today during a downtime from the age groups I was scheduled for this weekend, and loved her tenacity and ability to lead her team. Ran the offense and impressed with her ability to get the ball to the right person. Great court vision and can push tempo and finish in transition.
Kendal Taylor, 2023, 5 Star 2023
Another impressive player who plays on the same 5 Star team, Kendal (feature photo above) is a strong physical presence in the paint and uses her body well to control the inside game. She moves well in the paint. Good rebounder, strong hands when she controls the ball. Very nice post player.
Cori Shultz, 2025, City Elite 2025
They had an impressive win this afternoon when I saw her, and she came of the bench to make herself known very quickly. Cori is a deadly perimeter shooter, and has good range. Connected on several from behind the arc or close to it. She sees the floor well, gets in good position and is a scrappy player and gets after it.
More stories coming this week from players who impressed me over the weekend!
