One such team that we have covered for several years certainly has a full roster of athletes that you should know. Here are some of the girls who played well for Lady Strong/Strong Center.
Sarah Strong (PF, 2024) has such an impressive IQ, and she is smooth handling the ball pushing it up the court finding her open teammates underneath the basket. She is automatic from deep showing awareness of where she is on the court at all times. She grabs rebounds for her team, and she can definitely post up underneath the basket against anyone including double teaming opponents. Look for her to have some old fashioned three point plays several times throughout any game.
Icyss Storm (SF, 2024) made sure she was in the right place at the right times cutting to the hoop for the pass and bucket. She runs well in transition making sure she fills the lanes to make herself available for some fast break points. She was persistent going after rebounds, and she didn’t let any kind of contact deter her from moving towards the basket. She uses her body to move her opponents and even open up space for her teammates. She had a nice old fashioned three point play after an offensive rebound.
Highlights
Halisi Whitley (SG, 2024) definitely put the shooting in shooting guard showing off her stroke from behind the arc three times in one half. She was even ready for the pass off of a fast break making it in transition. She did well moving without the ball to get open, and she didn’t change her form no matter who was closing out on her shot.
Serenity McNair (PG, 2024) does a great job penetrating the paint to open up the floor for her teammates shifting the defense where she wants them to go. She hustles back on defense to prevent her opponents from scoring in transition. She can certainly stroke it from deep, too, showing that off on multiple occasions.
Highlights
Emerson Thompson (SG, 2024) knows how to grab steals, and she is up the court with the possession before anyone can catch her. She does well taking it all the way herself, or she can find an open teammate cutting to the hoop for their own points. She knows how to cut to get open and create space for herself. She picks the pocket of her opponents with ease, too.
Amanda Mitchell (PF, 2025) used her height and strength inside to grab rebounds, and she knew how to protect the possession swinging the ball until she had an outlet. She created space herself to score some points, and she was persistent when it was time to grab rebounds for her team.
