Brooklyn McKinley-5’7 PG (Pro Skills 17U National) |2023|
McKinley handles the ball well under pressure, that’s always a plus yet things kept adding up as she saw the floor and made the right passes to the right teammate. She also was explosive off the dribble, this enabled her to blow by defenders and score after contact but I guess her “on the ball defense” as well as “playing the passing lane” JUST DID IT for me
Mattie Dollar Mattie Dollar 5'10" | SF Newcastle | 2025 State TX -5’8 SG (Texas Platinum 2024 Bruce) |2025|
Dollar has the right last name because her pull-up jumper is money, it seems like I may have used that line before, but it fits. She creates her shot under pressure, she elevates on her jumper and knocks it down with a hand in her face but she also did a good job attacking the basket and finishing after contact. She’s also a solid defender that didn’t mind rebounding against taller players
Iyanna Billups-5’2 PG (CE Elite 2024) |2024|
Billups has elevated her game even more since last season, in fact, she has done it every season since I’ve been watching her, and falling into that #sizedontmatter category is even more impressive because she can play. Her ability to run a team and control the tempo has gotten better, and so is her jumper which she can drop from NBA range but seeing the floor and making the right decisions are huge pluses
Tyreona Sibley-5’9 SF (F2B 2023) |2024|
Sibley is “long and athletic” and I call that the base and watching her throw “on the mone” blistering passes is definitely an eye-catcher yet so is her “on the ball” defense as she applies heat baseline to baseline. Something else I love to see is “playing the passing lane” I’m just big on things you can’t teach but her scoring off the dribble and using some impressive body control after contact was solid
Taylor Grona- 5’7 SG (Texas Elite Austin Future 16U) |2024|
Grona showed improvement when I caught her a few months ago at a tournament her high school hosted Battlin Billies, yet she has added even more. She reads the defense, yeah she understands how to create her shot for the jumper or attack the basket, with either hand and finish, with either hand, yet she also plays the passing lane and handled the ball afterward to either hit teammates or hit the jumper
Talia Strode-5’8 PG (Hardwood Elite 16U Gold) |2025|
Strode is “long and athletic” yeah that’s still the base and yes, she played the passing lane but she also did a good job defending and used her quick hands to come away with steals. She created her shot under pressure, knocked down both the mid and long-range jumper, and scored off the dribble. She also handled the ball under pressure and saw the floor
