Throughout the past few weeks, Prep Girls Hoops has gone from geographical region to geographical region of the Palmetto State via our county-by-county rankings to shine a brighter light on the players to look out for in every area.
Up next are a couple of counties that comprise the western portion of the Pee Dee in Darlington and Lee Counties – and their senior, junior, sophomore and freshman standouts.
Feagin is one of two top-tier star guards Francis Marion University managed to land in the last few months via commitments. The other was former Lexington star Alexis Sexton who will be in her freshman season with the Patriots in a few months. Feagin ran grassroots this past club season with SC Future. She is a consistent distributor of the ball and knows how to keep her hands outstretched as a defender. Feagin also possesses a great deal of confidence in her 3-point shooting abilities. She understands how to take care of the ball and will get to the rim one way or another.
For the first time since the 2015-16 season, the Falcons will compete at the 3A level after several seasons of trying its hand as a 4A participant. Either way, Madison has set herself up nicely for a season where she will close out her Darlington career with an exclamation point. Madison will have games where she does her best work off the ball and can particularly show her effectiveness as a 3-point shooter. She has a knack for making things happen from the wing. One thing that Madison will not do is force a shot where there may not be one.
The Titans are one of the many programs throughout the Palmetto State that simply oozes talent. Trinity Collegiate will play the upcoming season as a 4A participant in the SCISA ranks and in its first season under a new head coach. As for Pierce, she has no problems showcasing how versatile she is with her ability to make plays as either a guard or a forward. Those plays can occur with the points she scores or the rebounds she will collect. Pierce is a key reason why the Titans have advanced to back-to-back SCISA 3A semifinal matchups and has competed in cheerleading as well as tennis.
Prior to the start of last season, Knox moved over from SCHSL 4A Hartsville to the Titans who, per SCISA’s updated classification, will be in its 4A ranks beginning with the upcoming campaign. Knox knows how to knock down 3-pointers and compliments what she does from downtown with her defensive prowess which includes the ability to gather steals. How she can fill the steals portion of a stat sheet along with how efficient she is in running the floor make Knox particularly dangerous in the transition game. Ball movement, attacking the rim and finding her way out of double teams are other elements to her overall game. The Titans will be one of the intriguing teams to watch to see what they will resemble sans Kiyomi McMiller Kiyomi McMiller 5’8″ | PG Life Center Academy | 2024 State NJ (transferred out of state) and Jaida Cameron Jaida Cameron 5’7″ | PG Legacy Early College | 2024 State SC (transferred to 4A South Florence).
Rembert is a two-sport athlete who has also excelled as in the track and field realm in addition to what she has done on the basketball court. She stands at 6-foot-1 and can display her versatility with the ability play either of the forward spots in addition to playing the two in the backcourt. As much as she can score, she will also haul in rebounds, making her a threat to post double-doubles. The attributes that can translate from track and field over to basketball make her even more of an asset to any team than she already is.
2024s
Following a stellar AAU season where she wore the uniform of Upward Stars 3SSB 2024, Frierson looks ahead to her first season with one 4A program in Hartsville after transferring from another in Columbia-area 4A A.C. Flora. She also had a stellar showing earlier this year at Dawn Staley’s team camp at the University of South Carolina as well as one at the SCBCA Summer Showcase. She is unafraid of contact that can place her at the free throw line and attracts double teams from defenses given how effective she is as a scorer. Ball handling skills, hustle and overall playmaking are other elements to her complete game.
The addition of Frierson to go along with Fisher certainly makes for a noteworthy 2024 class the Red Foxes will graduate in a couple of seasons. Fisher is primarily a backcourt player who is listed at 5-foot-9. She accepts any assignment she has in the low post and will find spacing to receive the ball near the rim. Rebounding is another one of her strong suits and is something she gets done on either end of the floor. Fisher is also an effective shot blocker as a defender. She played 25 games last season for a Red Foxes team that advanced to the second round of last season’s 4A playoffs.
2025s
Prep Girls Hoops got a glimpse recently at Williamson at the Passion Driven Camp at the Pearl Moore Center in Florence. Expect Williamson to be more of a focal point for the 2022-23 rendition of the Titans given the roster changes the team underwent over the offseason. Williamson will compete with Trinity Collegiate in SCISA’s new 4A classification and with a new head coach. She played in 29 games in what was a breakout season for her in 2021-22 and displays her versatility with her ability to contribute productive minutes either as a guard in the backcourt or in the frontcourt as a forward.
Dennis was an important piece in the Stallions’ run to the 2A playoffs last season. She is a two-sport athlete whose athletic resume also includes minutes on the volleyball court. Dennis stands at 5-foot-4 and while listed as a combo guard, she offers versatility with the ability to make plays as a small forward in addition to being in the backcourt at either the one or the two. She proved her ability to be one of the team’s primary scorers this past season and that will likely continue in the coming seasons as her career continues to blossom at Lee Central.
Between Slater and Dennis, the young backcourt for coach Patrice Holmes and her 2A Lee Central squad looks to be a force to be reckoned with in the coming seasons. Slater is listed at 5-foot-2 and can play either one of the guard positions. She is another that displayed her ability to put points on the board in her freshman season. Slater has plenty of attributes of a young floor general that will surely rise up the ranks of the state’s 2025 class as she gains more experience. Stallions fans should be excited for what is to come next with Slater sporting their black and Vegas gold colors.
Kind’s play will be very kind for her new team – Trinity Collegiate – but not so much for opponents of the Titans. She moves from one team in Hartsville that competed as a SCHSL 4A team to Trinity Collegiate that is part of SCISA’s new 4A classification. She is anything but shy about making plays near the rim and also manages to stay active even when she does not have the ball in her hands. She also is an efficient runner of the floor particularly in the transition game. Scoring on her can be a difficult task as well with her shot-blocking ability. Kind lifted Hartsville to its most successful season of the Justin Johnson era in 2021-22 with 14 wins and a berth in the 4A playoffs.
2026s
According to Lee Central coach Patrice Holmes, the six-foot big was playing her first season of organized basketball in 2021-22. One could watch her play and think anything but. Her height advantage gives her an edge over plenty of other fours and fives at her age. Holmes provides timely scoring, the ability to bring down rebounds from either the offensive or defensive end and reject shots as a defender. She plays the game with a physical attitude and also knows when to score and when to pass in the low post. Holmes will be one of many 2026s to watch this upcoming season.
She is another that is transitioning from the SCHSL ranks at Hartsville over to SCISA Trinity Collegiate. Kind has certainly made improvements in her game. She understands how and when to set herself up around the ball and is an efficient runner of the floor. Aggressiveness and activity are elements to her skillset that she prides herself on. Kind is also very effective as a rebounder. She will be a big help to a Titans team that is making all sorts of transitions – in terms of its roster, in terms of its coach and in terms of its newfound SCISA 4A classification.
Joseph will be part of a Darlington team whose highlight from the 2021-22 season may have been its upset of Bluffton in the first round of the 4A playoffs. The Falcons will go from 4A to the 3A classification for the upcoming season. She stands at a tall 6-foot-1 and will give Darlington a height presence at the five near the rim. Joseph hopes to be one of the many 2026s that will be mentioned as having breakout seasons from the 2022-23 campaign. Given the three seniors that the Falcons graduated from last year’s team were all frontcourt players, that gives Joseph a golden opportunity at extended playing time.
