Last season, Martensdale-St. Mary’s won the conference outright with an undefeated 13-0 record. Now, let’s meet some of the athletes in this conference.
The Lenox sophomore had an outstanding freshman season, averaging 17 points and 15 rebounds in her first season as a Tiger. About half of those rebounds came on the offensive boards, which creates extra opportunities for her team to score. Even if only three of her offensive rebounds turn into scores, that’s six points at the end of games, which add up quickly.
Lindsey Davis Lindsey Davis 5'8" | SG Nodaway Valley | 2024 State IA
The 5-foot-7 junior has a complete game. I’m excited to see Davis as the central option for Nodaway Valley. She has a feel for the game and the skill to execute what her vision is on the floor. She does an excellent job of balancing out her scoring from the perimeter and around the basket. I love how she can finish from multiple angles around the basket. Davis has a knack for creating space around the basket by beating defenders to spots and the ability to take shots from odd angles, and it is something to behold.
Brynnly German Brynnly German 5'5" | PG Martensdale-St. Marys | 2024 IA
The 5-foot-6 junior from Martensdale-St. Mary’s, led the conference in assists by a wide margin last season. She averaged 6.2 assists per game last season and 3.6 turnovers per game. Just rewatching some of her contests for the Blue Devils last season, German makes excellent decisions with the ball, and all of her passes are on time and placed where they need to be for her teammates to get a shot up on time. With other leading scorers back, I’d expect she’ll perform similarly now that she’s even more comfortable with this group.
Zoey Reed Zoey Reed 5'9" | CG Lenox | 2025 IA
Reed was the second leading scorer at Lenox last season, behind fellow freshman Sadie Cox Sadie Cox 5'11" | C Lenox | 2025 State IA . Reed earned 11 points and seven rebounds in her first season as a Tiger and scored when given her opportunity efficiently. Reed also showed she could make perimeter jumpers in small volumes last season. The Tiger also made a respectable 61% of her attempts from the free-throw line. She has a solid base to build off from last season, and her development could be the difference in Lenox competing in the next few seasons.
