Following yesterday's preview of sectional one, we move on to sectional two. Last season, Westfield emerged from this sectional as champions and did it dramatically, with now junior [player_tooltip player_id='209906' first='Carly' last='Drew'] sinking a 35-foot fadeaway three-pointer at the buzzer. Let's meet some teams competing for the sectional plaque this season.

State Contenders

Westfield

The Pioneers have made the state tournament in back-to-back seasons. This group is getting back their top four scorers from last season, and nearly all of those players have made multiple trips to the state tournament. The Pioneers have skill and experience on their side. [player_tooltip player_id='209906' first='Carly' last='Drew'] has done it all for Westfield the past few seasons and now has experience playing some of the best players in the country in the EYBL last summer. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='448289' first='Haddie' last='Showen'] had an outstanding freshman campaign, and I doubt she'll ever see the kind of defense that Mineral Point threw at her at the Resch Center. It'll be challenging for someone to bring something these kids haven't seen.

Mishicot

This team lost their leading scorer this season, meaning senior Kailey Tulachka will see more of the ball this season. Tulachla gained a handful of college offers this summer due to her play with Purple Aces. I think she has a chance to show she's one of the best players in D4 this season.

Sectional Teams

St. Mary Catholic

[player_tooltip player_id='156056' first='Chloe' last='Vogel'] is back for the Zephyrs after a solid summer with Wisconsin Blizzard, but the Zephyrs lost their next two leading scorers. However, [player_tooltip player_id='444793' first='Audrey' last='Norville'] is a name to watch on this team. Norville is an athletic four who can score from anywhere on the floor and isn't afraid to be aggressive. Norville's play will determine this team's ceiling this coming year.

Bonduel

The Bears battled the Pioneers for 36 minutes in the sectional final last season and made a run late to tie the game until [player_tooltip player_id='209906' first='Carly' last='Drew'] sunk an absurd shot to win the game. The loss of Allaina Robaidek is massive, but I believe that Ella Hiscke is ready for an uptick in usage this season. Teams who suffer a defeat like the Bears tend to bounce back well.

Frisky Regional Teams

Wittenberg-Birnamwood

Reese Rogowski is a tough shot maker, and when she gets into a rhythm, she's a problem. The Chargers may not be the most talented team in this sectional, but Rogowski may be the one kid who can swing a game on her own.
