Yazmeen Whitsitt Yazmeen Whitsitt 5'8" | PG Decorah | 2024 State IA
The Decorah guard has been excellent in the Viking backcourt this season. She and Bryar Duwe Bryar Duwe 5'7" | PG Decorah | 2023 State IA have played off each other and found plenty of team success along the way. The high-powered backcourt complements each other so well. Duwe is the kid who penetrates the defense to create offense for others, and Whittsit is a scoring guard who can take the ball-handling responsibility from Duwe at any point in the game. I love the dynamic those two have and how seamlessly they fit together.
Morgan Mann Morgan Mann 5'7" | SG Humboldt | 2025 State IA
The sophomore guard has been excellent for Humbodlt this season. Mann has been one of the top-ten scorers in 4A and has led her team in assists in their first five games of the season. She’s created offense for herself and others and helped the Wildcats stay competitive through the early portion of the season. The Wildcats are 2-3, but they are a group that has the potential to compete with anyone within their conference.
Mylee Steifel
The Burlington freshman is scoring the most among all newcomers in 4A this season. Not only has Steifel scored in volume this season, but she’s also been efficient while being the primary option at a 4A school. Her ability to carry the offensive load the second she stepped foot on the floor this year is beyond impressive. I don’t know if the Grayhounds will be competitive late in the postseason while she’s there, but there is something to be said for kids who carry offenses and are effective that make teams competitive.
Brooklyn Stanley Brooklyn Stanley 5'8" | PG Bishop Heelan | 2024 State IA
The Bishop Heelan junior has led the Crusaders or been near the top of every statistical category this season. Stanley is a wing that can do a bit of everything on the floor, and she’s shown that over the Crusaders’ first three games of the season. She’s a kid who likes to play around the basket, where most of her offense comes from, and to win rebounding battles around the basket. Stanley is an active defender who gets her hands on wayward passes or loose balls. She does an excellent job of being why other teams’ possessions end without a shot.
