McDonogh was the more physical team and their defense was too much for Pallotti and they won comfortably, 60-41. Here are the impact players from this one.
This was Kennedy’s first game back from her knee injury. She came off the bench and immediately took over the game. She set the tone physically and went to work in the paint. She had two quick “And 1” opportunities and was off and running. She played limited minutes, but you could tell what a difference maker she is for the Eagles. She is the most confident and dominant post player in the area.
Highlights
This was an excellent game for Ari. She showed off her ability to get buckets in the paint, using jump hooks and turnaround jumpers to score over McDonogh’s formidable front line. She has a real nice touch around the basket and a strong basketball IQ. She’s a solid passer, especially out of the high post.
Autumn was the game’s high scorer with 15 points. She had a sequence in the second half where she buried three pointers on back-to-back possessions that seemed to turn the game for good. She competed hard on defense and kept her composure under heavy ball pressure.
Savannah turned in a strong performance for the Panthers. She was a presence on the boards and defensively and chipped in 8 points. I was very impressed with her ability to make shots in traffic while absorbing contact.
Anaiah was all over the court, turning up the intensity on her way to a double double. It’s a regular thing now for her to draw a charge in every game. She really sets the tone for McDonogh and is always looking for the smoke.
Sydney didn’t have her best shooting game, but she still managed to lead the team in scoring with 12 points. She was her usual disruptive self on defense, playing the passing lanes and doing her best to slow down McDonogh’s guards.
