Continue ReadingOrigel’s ability to knockdown threes at a high clip allows her to attack the basket just as well. She knows when to use the pump fake or just let it loose. The strength and awareness she has around the rim is evident too. Started the first half with just two.. and went on to finish the night with a win and 22 points.. Sam is still showing how versatile she is, even with the 3&D label.
There’s players that can make shots and there are shooters. Yakey is a shooter. Most of her attempts end up being all net, which shows the accuracy and the work behind the scenes. She knows how to get herself open and the attention she draws opens the floor for her teammates to impact the game as well. Going 5-6 from the arc, Yakey left the court with 15 points and a W.
A force to deal with in the paint, Lauren knows how to will the ball in the basket. She’s tough, focused and doesn’t play out of her self. She sets her self up elbow to elbow and when she gets the ball she goes to work. A tough loss for Trinity, but Miller continues to show her dominance in the low post finishing the night with 22.
Highlights
Easily the star of the night from the games I was present for. Sakalas showed up and showed out. Her length, frame, focused attitude and next play mindset does not match with her class status as a freshman. Stella has all the tools to be the best on the court at all times. A versatile three level scorer who can defend the post and the perimeter if needed. She’s vocal on the defensive end, and always finds a way to the ball even if the play isn’t set for her. 23 points on the night. Sakalas has a bright future, NAZ is in good hands.

The touch and creativity around the rim is evident, and her ability to get to the paint is present as well. She can score at 3 levels, and has the vision to make plays for others as well. Reeds skillset is developing game by game, and when her aggressiveness starts to align with her talent, she’ll be on her way as a top player in her class.

Téa Rubino
Téa Rubino
This was my first time watching Rubino play.. and play is what this kid can do. She’s crafty, creative and is CONFIDENT. The right wing seems to be her spot. She pulled up off a non relocation pump fake, and drilled a 3 with a hand in her face. A couple possessions later, she pulled off a jab, turn around step back and knocked it down from the same location. Her craftiness is there, and the talent is very evident. Téa has great potential and a huge upside. St Francis might have a cornerstone player on the rise.
Epps is “undersized” in the post, but that doesn’t stop her from being a force on the boards. Epps has a knack of being strong on the boxout and doing whatever she can to crash the glass. Her offensive abilities come in spurts, but when they’re on show you can tell that she has the ability to score on all levels when needed. On the defensive side she can stay with guards and battle with the bigs.

Still one the most skilled guards on any court, Viki’s vision and ball control are top tier. The craftiness, confidence and natural feel she has for the game stand out the moment you watch her play. She can attack a defense with patience, or weave her way through multiple defenders for a finish. On the opposite side of the ball, she’s proving this year that she can be just as impactful on that end as well. A talented player with tremendous upside.
