Even though the action was limited to only three games on Friday, I still want to highlight some of the girls that showed out.
Syla Swords- Long Island Lutheran Lady Crusaders (NY). Class of 2024
In the day’s first game, Syla Swords and the Lady Crusaders put on an absolute offensive clinic in a rout against Benson Tech. 6’0 Junior Syla Swords was at the forefront of the crusaders’ charge, hitting many shots from behind the arc. She seemed to get her points at ease and looked in control of the game, dishing out several nice passes as well. She was the best player on the floor, and her scoring ability is refined for someone just starting their junior year.
Kyndal Walker- St. John’s Cadets (DC). Class of 2024
True point guards have a confident presence and confidence when they play. Their ability to control a game cannot be measured on a box score. St. John’s junior guard Kyndal Walker possesses all the above qualities. She showed her elite vision throughout the game, and her ability to finish around the rim was on display Friday night. She excels in transition, and her game is wise beyond her years. In one of the most talent-rich games of the tourney, Kyndal Walker might have been the brightest star on the court.
Delaney Thomas- St. John’s Cadets (DC). Class of 2023
Delaney Thomas had an excellent game on Friday against Christ, the king. She was highly effective as a scorer but what impressed me about her game was how well she could be effective without the ball. She used all of her 6’2″ frames to do some damage on the offensive glass, and she also stepped out and showed her range. She’s the classic “quiet 20” and can play off of Kyndal Walker will go a long way for the Cadets.
Sadie Shores Sadie Shores 5'10" | CG Woodgrove HS | 2024 State VA – PVI (VA). Class of 2024
The home team PVI was the most impressive offense of the day, and a lot of that credit goes to Junior guard Sadie Shores Sadie Shores 5'10" | CG Woodgrove HS | 2024 State VA . Shores is a true point guard and impacted the guy in almost every way imaginable. She was a pest on defense and was the catalyst in PVI’s aforementioned offensive clinic. She could score inside and out and looked very comfortable the whole game. I had heard a lot about her coming into the day, and she did not disappoint.
