Tuesday, we released the Winter rankings update for the Class of 2024. There were more than 25 new additions, plus a few players who raised their “stock”, so to speak, so subsequently there was some movement throughout the list. I wanted to take this time to circle back and address all of the ranked prospects, position by position. Below is a look at 36 point guard prospects who make up 18.0% of the rankings this time around, with analysis on a handful to “keep an eye on” detailed at the bottom.

NEW ADDITIONS:
Gabby Douglass Gabby Douglass 5'6" | CG Anderson | 2024 State IN , Muncie Central – Long and athletic guard can score it at all three levels and is a willing defender.
Emma Hart Emma Hart 5'2" | PG New Castle | 2024 IN , New Castle – Smaller point guard is quick, smart with the basketball, and can knock down shots.
Ava Kingery Ava Kingery 5'2" | PG Portage | 2024 State IN , Portage – Shorter guard is quick & shifty, explosive, can fill it up outside or create off the bounce.
Kamaria White Kamaria White 5'2" | PG Kokomo | 2024 IN , Kokomo – Little, quick/fast, and feisty. Creates for herself and others, and defends with energy.
Miranda Wozniak Miranda Wozniak 5'7" | CG Tri-Township | 2024 IN , Tri-Township – Skilled, tough-nosed, and savvy combo guard. Can handle, pass, and shoot it outside.

KEEP AN EYE ON:
Having that third guard playing in the same backcourt as Karsyn Norman Karsyn Norman 5’7″ | PG Bedford North Lawrence | 2023 State IN (2023) and Chloe Spreen Chloe Spreen 5’10” | SG Bedford North Lawrence | 2024 State IN (2024) has really helped Bedford North Lawrence with their balance this season. Teams aren’t easily able to focus on one or the other aforementioned prospects, as Madisyn can handle as a point guard and run offense, she can knock down open jumpers outside, and she can attack the basket and finish inside. Additionally, she plays with a great motor, a quiet toughness, and she is a versatile defender who can take on multiple positions.
Kyndra has put together a big season for Columbia City so far, and that should continue throughout the new year. She is a tough-nosed, hard-working point guard, but she also has a knack for scoring the ball consistently. She has had great shooting nights where she hits a number of 3-pointers and keeps defenses off-balance, because she’s also a strong attacker who can get to the basket/free throw line or find open teammates off of penetration. Defensively, she also shows that grit, as she will play a bit more physical than most guards around the perimeter.
Lauren came to Penn last year by way of Durham, North Carolina. She is a skillful, crafty, traditional point guard with good speed and quickness to her game. She is shifty handling the ball and attacking, she can create for herself or others, and she does a really nice job once she collapses defenses of finding her teammates. Defensively, she gets after it as well and can put a lot of pressure on the ball, but I feel like her ability to handle the ball and control tempo has really helped Penn’s offense the last season and a half, and she only continues to improve.
