Michigan lacks enough media outlets to give these girls proper respect and proper coverage. I just want to give a shout out to some kids that flat balled out this week.
North Point Christian is having a great season; Hailey Amey is a huge part of this. The Junior is averaging over 19 points per game is nearing ten rebounds per contest. She adds about 3.5 steals per game as well. This kid is going to be a problem going forward.

The sophomore from Oxford has been having a great season. She is a physical slasher that finishes with both hands and is very adept at front of the rim finishes. Sadly, she just tore her ACL, so we will have to wait another year until we see her again. As someone who has a daughter that lost a season to ACL, my heart goes out to you- God’s speed in your recovery.
I got a chance to see Sophie at BCAM and PGH 250. I’m not shocked that she is having a great season. She willed her team to a victory over Okemos with 19 points, four rebounds, five assists, and five steals- that’s a crazy solid stat line. Keep it up.

I’ve never coached against her, but I’m fine with avoiding that opportunity. Jenna makes my list, coming in the near future, that I don’t want to see on the opponent’s roster. She is a four level scorer (adds the post up game). Her deep shot is money, she hit four 3’s in a game this week. This kid better go DII at minimum and see DI looks.

There is an old maxim that defense wins games; there is another that says that free throws win games. By the Transitive Law of Logic, Gabby wins games. She is a disruptive defender- fits the defensive bill, but it is her free throws that are next level. She just set the State Record for most consecutive free throws, 44 straight. This kid is a freshman and is setting records. What’s next?
Special Shoutout: Rockford Girls Basketball
As I was perusing Twitter, I came across an article detailing how the Rockford Girl’s team made wigs for kids that are fighting cancer. While I am unfamiliar with the Magic Yarn Project, I am familiar with kids and programs giving back to society. I wish more programs did community service projects like this. Too often, all we focus on is the X’s and O’s or getting the W.
