Events like these make you realize how much we depend on the power. Well, as I usually do, I equated this to basketball. Many teams, programs and players also turn toward their power. Let’s look at some of the most powerful players in Michigan!
This one seems obvious. Carson doesn’t have to depend on her power because her game is very well rounded. That being said, it’s still a huge weapon in her game. Good luck to any opponent trying to win position under the rim. I always tell post defenders to do their work before their opponent gets the ball, but even then, what are they supposed to do?
If you ask me, there aren’t many more powerful rebounders not just in Michigan, but quite possibly the midwest. Bamm will initiate contact and box out on the shot. She can up and through her opponent when chasing a board. Bamm cannot and will not be moved off the block.

Williams might not be the tallest post player out there, but she instills fear in the competition. I’ve seen her body some of the biggest and best players in the country. She knows that her defensive physicality is the strength of her game and she does a great job of utilizing that advantage.
Billups is strong, tough and physical. She uses her strength in such a smart and unique way that helps her be a matchup nightmare. Billups does a great job of finding her opponents soft spot and attacking it with her power. Hopefully the description “graceful power” makes sense, because that’s the term that I’d use.
Kellenberger can flat out get the job done in the low post. She’s a strong and powerful offensive player. Kellenberger does a very nice job utilizing her strength when she gets on the block and puts her back to the basket. She goes up strong over her left shoulder and can finish with power.

I like Peterson’s upside a ton and think she’s a very intriguing prospect. Her power is, and can be, a huge part of her game. Peterson plays with a fire and passion that seems to increase the effectiveness of an already tough player. Peterson has the ability to shed off contact and finish in traffic.
