PGH MI 26 Freshman Showcase Preview: Point Guard Playmakers

The Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Freshman Showcase is a marquee individual event year after year, featuring top freshman prospects from across the state. After a solid group of 50+ freshman prospects in 2024, the 2025 Freshman Showcase set records with 93 2029 prospects in the gym. The heavy volume of participation gave us the ability to evaluate many prospects for our Fall rankings and Watch List. After scrolling through the 2030 registration list, this year looks ready to be another slam dunk event. Let's talk about media exposure. There will be thousands of views on X and Instagram of coverage provided by our scouts during the event. Our post-event articles will be read by hundreds. Every participant receives a write-up in our articles and a special event reversible jersey, which is something unique and special about the Prep Girls Hoops showcases. The freshmen will have an opportunity to be instructed by college coaches during the games, and I've seen an increase in college coaches getting a head start on their evaluation/recruiting process by attending the Freshman Showcase.   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepgirlshoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2024/08/PXL_20240825_130756454-crop-3928x2579-1724727209.jpg?w=800" alt="" class="wp-image-979619" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Freshman Showcase, Aug. 25th, 2024.</figcaption></figure>   Each year, Danyle and I collaborate to form All-Tournament teams and select an MVP from the teams we cover. In 2024, Jayna Burmeister (MVP), [player_tooltip player_id='859826' first='Paisley' last='Stephens'], Lucy Young (MVP), Raquel Walker, Emersen Holder, and Jana Honeycutt received First Team recognition. In 2025, O.J. Rytlewski, Kinley Regnery, Isabelle Brown, Taryn McNeil, Nylah Bell (MVP), and Taryn Roberts (MVP) received First Team selections. It's exciting to see who separates themselves in an environment where so many of the top prospects in Michigan's freshman class are under one roof. The anticipation is building, and here are a few prospects who could be in store for a big day:    Elyse took home an MVP T-Shirt at the Headliners Invitational Showcase last fall. Her advanced handles, three-point proficiency, and scrappy defensive pressure were separators. At the GVSU stop on our PGH Circuit tour, Bray stood out again. Poised play as the lead guard, smart reads off the ball, and determined rebounding on the offensive end led to put backs. She's a multidimensional guard who will be a tough matchup at the PGH Freshman Showcase.     The first time I saw Charley play at [program_tooltip program_id='714462' first='Michigan' last='Premier'] practice left a lasting impression. She looks like an immediate plug-and-play at the varsity level. Crafty footwork, advanced ball-handling combo moves, aggressive slasher, good touch around the basket, a high motor on both ends, and the ability to stretch the floor with her outside shots, Charley is on watch for a breakout day at the PGH Freshman Showcase.     Andie has been on a roll. She put herself on the PGH radar just over a year ago and has consistently stood out in front of our scouts. AAU tournaments, Headliners Invitational, GVSU Elite Camp: Andie's advanced skill with the ball in her hands, ability to create, shoot the three, finishing finesse with either hand, vision, and length at the one spot project to the higher levels. She's a prospect coming into the PGH Freshman Showcase to make a statement.     One of the best under-the-radar point guard prospects that has the potential to turn some heads will be Sofia. She flexed her muscles while playing up with CCE on the PGH Circuit and was a frequent Top Performer. Compact physical build, shifty handles, hard-nosed drives to the basket, strong finisher, threat-point shooting, Sofia is a dynamic player who's going to be an instant playmaker at the varsity level. I expect her to be a prospect who stands out at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.     Lindy isn't going to be nervous when she steps onto the court at the PGH Freshman Showcase on Saturday. She's a Headliners Invitational alum who's used to competing against top talent under the spotlight. Lindy lit it up at GVSU Elite Camp. She has college range and a smooth stroke that makes defenders pay when they give her space. Lindy is fluid with her crossovers, balanced, sees the floor, delivers passes on a rope, and has a second gear when she takes it to the hole. Lindy will be a dynamic guard to watch.     Uriyah is a prospect I really liked when I saw her at an AAU practice just over a year ago and she's continued to stand out since. She separated herself at the Headliners Invitational with her shifty handles, ability to slash and finish, and three-point shooting. Quick, athletic, poised, and strong through contact, Uriyah is a playmaker who will be on watch for a breakout performance at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.     It's been a minute since I've seen Kori play, but I really liked her game at the LBI April Showers Classic in 2025. Good handles and shiftiness to create separation off the dribble, confidence as a three point shooter, athletic, get-by you burst off the bounce, strong finisher, and effective as a facilitator. I'm excited to see how Kori's game has evolved in the past year and she's a prospect that will a playmaker at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.
