The Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Freshman Showcase is a marquee individual event year after year, featuring top freshman prospects from across the state. After a solid group of 50+ freshman prospects in 2024, the 2025 Freshman Showcase set records with 93 2029 prospects in the gym. The heavy volume of participation gave us the ability to evaluate many prospects for our Fall rankings and Watch List. After scrolling through the 2030 registration list, this year looks ready to be another slam dunk event. There are currently 91 freshmen registered for the showcase, with several known and unknown prospects signed up to attend.

Our format included 4 hours of games split up into predetermined 3v3 and 5v5 matchups. Let's talk about media exposure. There will be thousands of views on X and Instagram of coverage provided by our scouts during the event. Our post-event articles will be read by hundreds. Every participant receives a write-up in our articles and a special event reversible jersey, which is something unique and special about the Prep Girls Hoops showcases. The freshmen will have an opportunity to be instructed by college coaches during the games, and I've seen an increase in college coaches getting a head start on their evaluation/recruiting process by attending the Freshman Showcase.

Each year, Danyle and I collaborate to form All-Tournament teams and select an MVP from the teams we cover. In 2024, Jayna Burmeister (MVP), Paisley Stephens , Lucy Young (MVP), Raquel Walker, Emersen Holder, and Jana Honeycutt received First Team recognition. In 2025, O.J. Rytlewski, Kinley Regnery, Isabelle Brown, Taryn McNeil, Nylah Bell (MVP), and Taryn Roberts (MVP) received First Team selections. It's exciting to see who separates themselves in an environment where so many of the top prospects in Michigan's freshman class are under one roof. The anticipation is building, and here are a few prospects who could be in store for a big day:

Grethe is a freshman prospect that I'm looking forward to seeing for the first time in person at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. I had the chance to watch her film during games with [program_tooltip program_id='1852254' first='West' last='[program_tooltip program_id='714462' first='Michigan' last='Premier']'] on the PGH Michigan College Tour and she stood out. Grethe is a threat from three, uses her length to cause deflections, creates steals with her pressure, and finishes well in traffic. She'll be a prospect looking to have a breakout performance on Saturday.

They call her Big Al, and she's on watch for a big performance at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. Alexandra played up against upperclassmen at the Headliners Invitational and was one of the best prospects on the court, earning herself an All-Showcase selection in the process. She competes with non-stop energy, a high motor, is a relentless rebounder, a gritty defender, and makes all the hustle plays. Al can stretch the floor with her outside shot, explode downhill with an extra gear, and go up strong to finish through contact. I'm excited to see her go head-to-head with other freshmen on Saturday.

Gwen is a very promising prospect coming up through the Portland ranks. Her milestone moment was at the Big North Shootout, and I learned there that Gwen broke the Middle School high jump record, which makes a lot of sense when you see her jumping out of her shoes to finish around the basket. Her length, athleticism, and versatility create matchup problems on the court. She closes passing windows, gets to the rim in minimal dribbles, and finishes with a soft touch. Gwen will be a prospect to watch at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.

When I saw Nyla play little over a year ago at an AAU practice, I was floored to learn that she wasn't in high school. Already long, athletic, and holding her own in the post, she fit right in against the older group. Nyla's relentless hustle, energy, persistent rebounding, and toughness as a finisher in traffic have always stood out. She's an effective rim protector, and I could see her making a major impact on the defensive end. Nyla will be a forward to watch at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.

Emma made a splash at the Headliners Invitational and stood out with [program_tooltip program_id='932068' first='Michigan' last='Prospects'] on the PGH Circuit. She's an athletic wing who can stretch the floor with her perimeter game or mix it up in the post. Emma has good footwork in the paint and finishes with touch around the basket. Her versatility will be a difficult matchup at the PGH Michigan Freshman Expo and a prospect I'm excited to watch.

Bailey immediately catches your attention as a high-ceiling prospect with her length, athleticism, mobility, and versatility as a guard-wing-forward do-it-all kind of player. She's active on the boards, can defend inside and on the perimeter, has a smooth stroke from three-point range, and finishes with touch around the rim. Excited to have her competing at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.

Julia has good length at the guard spot, athleticism, polished fundamental skills, is a multidimensional impact player, and adds a sweet stroke from beyond the arc, which is one of the reasons Freeland should be extremely excited about the upcoming season. She's a sharpshooter, works hard on the defensive end, chases down rebounds, causes a disruption at the top of the press, and actively moves off the ball. Julia is a prospect with a high ceiling in this class, and she's on watch for a huge day at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.
