Monet Brown – Harrison
Currently leading 5A in shots blocked per game at 3.1, Brown is still largely an unknown within the state’s basketball scene. Through her season with 3.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks per game. She brings constant energy inside the arc, doing her best alter shot attempts.
Dayshanay Bruner Dayshanay Bruner 6'0" | PF Coronado | 2024 State CO – Coronado
Bruner is yet another big time shot blocker hailing from the Colorado Springs region, standing right around 6’1. The power forward has proven capable as a weak side shot blocker or point of attack defender inside the post. Typically going up to contest shots with the right hand, there are few juniors as imposing down low as Bruner. On the opposite side of the floor, the forward brings an intriguing perimeter skillset and willingness to attempt shots from outside the paint. Through her junior season with Coronado, Bruner has posted 11.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks per game.
Taylin Serlen – Standley Lake
The 6’1 forward is showing progression as a playmaker with the ball, proving all too capable seeing above the defense. Serlen brings a unique skillset as a big ballhandler who easily breaks the press and goes at the defense. She stays focused on pushing the pace in transition and get to the break. Through her season with Standley Lake, Serlen has put up 19.4 points, 10 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and nearly 6 stocks per game. Continuing to develop the jump shot consistency will play a valuable role in her offensive versatility.
Gianna Whiteside Gianna Whiteside 5'11" | PF AZ Compass Prep | 2024 State AZ – George Washington
Whiteside maintains her defensive positioning versus a wide variety of opponents, proving to be one of the most versatile defenders in the class. At roughly 6′ tall, Whiteside is a sturdy defender who will not back down to anybody. The forward is utilized at the point of attack on guards or as a disciplined help defender versus any driver. Through her season with George Washington, the forward has put up 11.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.7 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game.
Jayda Arbor – Vista PEAK Prep
Arbor is a quick defender who plays bigger than her size on paper, at 5’7. She has proven capable matching up with both backcourt positions and some larger forwards. Arbor’s ability to manuever around screens makes her a valuable defender out on the perimeter. Through her season with 11-8 Vista PEAK Prep, Arbor has put up 4.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.4 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game.
Daysha Sagrillo-Smiley Daysha Sagrillo-Smiley 6'1" | PF Littleton | 2024 State CO – Littleton
Sagrillo-Smiley is the last name to qualify for this portion of 5A top junior shot blockers, at 1.6 per game. The 6’1 power forward is poised going after loose balls or forcing opposing ballhandlers into turnover situations. She stays consistent hunting down rebounds on the offensive glass, always lurking down low. Through her season with 14-5 Littleton, Sagrillo-Smiley has posted 9.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game while contributing 57% of field goal attempts. Although a taller forward, she is consistently one of the first one’s down the floor on the break.
