Kirsten Lewis-Williams may have her eyes set on the state championship, but I am looking forward to when she does get the quadruple-double that she keeps getting so close to achieving. This shows how important she is for her team scoring on all levels, getting inside for rebounds, pushing the ball up the court finding her open teammates, and grabbing steals on the defensive side of the ball. She continues to show how she can block shots making sure her opponents don’t get any easy buckets. She’s incredibly versatile on the court for the Wildcats being able to run the point guard position, and she can also get inside the paint for some touches and points. Her Wildcat team will be hosting Mallard Creek for a big time matchup on Thursday.
Highlights
Alyssa Lewis continues to show a lot of leadership with her team scoring on all levels for Hickory Ridge. She attacks the basket driving hard against contact, and she’s a knockdown shooter from anywhere around the perimeter. As one of the main ball handlers, she sees the floor well knowing how to find the open areas and get her teammates involved or attack the gaps herself. She is constantly keeping her eyes peeled for the best play to help her team get some points. Hickory Ridge will be traveling to Northern Guilford for round 2 on Thursday.
Erica McClary
Erica McClary
Lewis’s teammate, Erica McClary, has been a great asset for her team this season being able to do everything a guard needs to do. She handles the ball well pushing the tempo, and she can definitely knock down her shot from deep. She plays both ends exceptionally well being a pesky defender knocking the ball away from opponents and jumping in front of the pass to grab steals. Her quickness is hard to defend using her speed to blow by opponents, and her lateral movements definitely block opposing guards from getting around her.
Tymber Thompson
Tymber Thompson
Tymber Thompson has been a consistent performer in the paint for her team this season. She has an arsenal of post moves that she uses to score her points, and she is persistent going after rebounds. She uses offensive boards for her own points, too. Her defense in the paint is sure to stop opponents using her length to block shots, and she reads opponents well knowing how to deflect passes disrupting offensive sets. Despite her performance, TC Roberson lost to Myers Park on Tuesday.
Anastasia Sinclair certainly left it all out on the court Tuesday night against Western Guilford. The future UNC Pembroke athlete has a high motor attacking the basket whether she is finishing at the rim herself or penetrating the paint to open up the court for her teammates. She is constantly moving on the court finding the gaps on defense and crashing the boards for rebounds even getting double digits in rebounds in round 1. Her ability to use her stellar defense to create her own offensive possessions and fast break points is sure to continue in South Meck’s playoff run. The Lady Sabres will be hosting Asheville on Thursday.
