These teams aren’t new to this stage with one or both playing for a title for the past ten seasons. St. John’s was expected to be here especially after getting back Duke commit Delaney Thomas Delaney Thomas 6'2" | C St. John's College | 2023 State MD . Paul VI on the other hand has been limited with a six player rotation and battled back from a double digit fourth quarter deficit to upset the undefeated top seeded Bishop McNamara.
After securing her spot as 1st Team All-WCAC Kyndal was now eyeing another WCAC title. She scored 10 points and grabbed 8 boards in the game four on the offensive glass. She made a lot of plays in the second half after the Panther’s tried to make a run.
Highlights
Louis was the bright spot for PVI and the only Panther to reach double digit scoring with 11 points. She was also part of the WCAC first team and would have loved to put another ring on her finger. Expect her to continue her stellar play at Missouri State next season.
Second Half:
The Cadets led the entire game and answered every run the Panthers made. PVI known for their three point shooting and spectacular comebacks only shot 4 for 17 (23%) from beyond the arc. Although SJC only shot 10% from the three (1 for 10), they where more efficient from the field overall. The game was still tight at the break as SJC only led by four points while the 15-7 third quarter by the Cadets proved to be the difference.
Delaney was a game changer returning to the team from a hand injury to drop a game high 13 points while going 5 for 6 from the line with a splint on her hand. Because of the number of games missed she didn’t land one of those All-WCAC team spots but her play showed that she is certainly deserving.
Carolae came up huge controlling the inside with a strong double-double 11 points and a game high 13 rebounds. She was the best player on the floor in the third quarter and put the brakes on every PVI tried to get back in the game. She showed why she deserved her 2nd team All-WCAC nomination.
