When has an injury stopped a player for making the team in the last 10 years? Talentwise Delaney is better that half of the players selected and if we are being real, her body of work over the past few years should have locked her in being as though she would be healthy before the game is played. Their is justification for the exclusion, however, based on past practices this would be considered a snub.

Delaney really emerged in entering her junior year. Getting out there competing in James Nichols Blacktop Scrimmage woke something up inside of her that took her game to another level. She was solid in her subsequent EYBL season but with Coach Scribner giving her the latitude to expand her game out of the post, it paid dividends to both parties. Missing a big chunk of the season to a hand injury kept her out off of the team, in past years an injury of her type wouldn’t have mattered and had been frowned upon by fans trying to justify the move. Regardless, she is one of the countries best and will show it at Duke.

Delaney was a game changer returning to the team from a hand injury to drop a game high 13 points while going 5 for 6 from the line with a splint on her hand. Because of the number of games missed she didn’t land one of those All-WCAC team spots but her play showed that she is certainly deserving.

had 4 points and was on the bench most of the half with foul trouble. She had a productive second half scoring 9 points and finishing with 13 for the game. She converted at the line late, and her coming alive was the biggest reason St. John’s took control of the game in the second half.

played big in both games this weekend, gobbling up boards and dominating inside. She had 18 in St. John’s 21 points over Elizabeth Seton in the quarterfinal; then she followed that up with 14 against Good Counsel in the semifinal. Delaney missed a lot this year with an injury, so it’s good to see her back healthy.

Delaney led all scorers with 20 points and showed why she is one of the top players in the area. She did whatever was needed to keep St. John’s College in full control of the game. She defended at a high level, crashed the boards and set up her teammates for easy buckets. She is always fun to watch.

Delaney has been consistently killing the entire fall and pre-season so that was expected to continue against McDonogh. She scored a game high 20 points and I don’t believe that she missed a shot in the game going 8 for 8 from the line. She also sat out the fourth quarter.

At the onset it appeared that the Duke commit could have beaten Riverdale singlehandedly. The Cadets were up 12-2 and she had 10 points and assisted on the other. She was knocking down the three consistently hitting 3 on the day enroute to 21 points. Her three looks like a legitimate threat now not just a shot she can hit and she looks comfortable even with a hand in her face. She was solid down low and in the mid range as well. She is going to be a problem in the WCAC this season.
