Jenna Twedt Jenna Twedt 5'8" | SG Benton | 2023 State IA
The Kirkwood commit eased into postseason play with an impressive 24-point performance and made eight of her twelve shots. Twedt is one of the most talented players in 3A and has Benton playing at a level where not only can they go to the Wells Fargo Center in about ten days and play a game there, but they can be there playing multiple games as they make a run at a state title. She can score with the best of the best in 3A, and I am interested to see how far Benton gets this postseason.
Jayden Hofemeyer
The Unity Christian sophomore led the Knights past a competitive West Lyon team to help her team reach a region final. Hofemeyer recorded 15 points and five rebounds in the win. The Knights played at the Wells Fargo Center last season but have to do it the hard way this season if they want to return. The Knights will go on the road to play the No. 1 seed in Region 6 Sioux City Center for the right to represent the region at the state tournament.
Willow Bleeker
In the other Region 6 semifinal, Sioux City Center faced a stiff challenge from Spirit Lake but snuck out with a win and a ticket to the Region Final. Senior Willow Bleeker finished that game with an 11-point and ten-rebound double-double. The aspect of her game was that she added five assists in the narrow win. Bleekers passing accounted for at least ten points for the Warriors, which means she accounted for at least 21 of her team’s 50 points. Bleeker is an impactful player that adds advantages on the margins to help her team win games.
Emma Donovan
After the Region Quarterfinal, where Donovan recorded a double-double, she did it again in the Region Semifinal. Donovan recorded 14 points and 16 rebounds in the Golden Eagles win over Monticello. Ten of the rebounds that Donovan grabbed were of the offensive variety, which means that she helped her team gain extra possessions and record second-chance points. In a game that finished with five points of separation, that level of offensive rebounding is the difference between winning and going to a Region Championship game and going home.
