(Captain) [player_tooltip player_id='153410' first='Jayda' last='Allie'], Cabell Midland, SG, 5-8, Sr. - [player_tooltip player_id='153410' first='Jayda' last='Allie'] needs a college home, folks!!! Yesterday! I mean it! Recruit her. Recruit her, now. If she goes homeless, than a lucky coach is missing out big time on one of the most first-class, hardest-working kids I have ever seen. We are talking the kind to hang around after practice and put up more shots, just because she can. We are talking about the kind to be okay on that road trip because she's used to the road. She gets along with anyone. She fits in many systems. She'll keep putting those shots up no matter how many times you challenge her. Just look what she did for Cabell Midland this season - She facilitated. She led. She scored. She defended the other teams best player. And she did everything, well. Really well. To the tune of 16.8 points per game, 3.8 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 2.8 steals per game - all told, she scored 416 points in 26 games.

[player_tooltip player_id='342221' first='Alexis' last='Bordas'], Wheeling Park, SG, 5-8, So. - If you haven't watched [player_tooltip player_id='342221' first='Alexis' last='Bordas'] play in person, why are you waiting? Honestly. Stop what you are doing, right now! Drop everything, boot up a computer or smartphone, and get on youtube.com. Start by searching Wheeling Park Patriots girls basketball. Continue by getting your popcorn ready. Get comfy by putting your butt in the closest seat. Then, you better begin preparing for a wonderful time.

Yes, this is a really good idea. The reviews are coming in from all corners of the state. They are Bravo. A-Plus. Muah. How can anyone ignore them? Perhaps, should you be so lucky, you will even see the Bordas who showed up this entire season. She won the Gatorade Player of the Year as a SOPHOMORE, folks. And, she nearly led them all the way back to a state championship with a furious second-half rally in the state title game where she scored 24 points.

Yes, she soared past Wheeling Park's LaLa Woods as she sparked her team to a hot close to within one point. She soared past Gatorade Player of the Year [player_tooltip player_id='342221' first='Alexis' last='Bordas']' desperate second half-comeback/takeover attempt.

Long. When it was all said and done and Jordan finally earned her first state title, she had thrown up 14.8 points and 7.5 boards per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='379527' first='Zaniah' last='Zellous'], George Washington, PF, 6-2, So. - What learning curve? [player_tooltip player_id='379527' first='Zaniah' last='Zellous'] did more than any other AAAA post player in the state. Much more. She showcased all her talents, more. She came out from her place in the post and defended more. She rebounded. She scored more. She competed the most.

Yes, yes, yes, yes.

Even when she didn't score on the first try, she threatened a rebound and put back. That made her just that much more dangerous. You could really only prepare for her so much, before she figured it out in the end. Her team may have lost, but as a scout, I left knowing that Zellous was someone who would have been that much more trouble in a tight contest. Anyway, another thing that made her unlike many posts in AAAA? Well, she wanted the ball in her hands in crunch time. And, then she knew what to do with it. She scored. She got physical. She really, really made life hard on anyone down low - as just a sophomore. Just how hard? How about 16 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocks per game hard. Yeah.

Period.

End of Discussion.

Pretending otherwise would be ill-advised. Overlooking her because her team didn't qualify for the state tournament would be just as strange. She's everything you want in an all-state first-team player and more.

Resting inside her, quite simply, is the heart of a champion and the best defender in the state.

Yes, really.

The lub-dub, lub-dub of her atria and ventricles is consistently pumping basketball through her veins. There's no time when she isn't thinking about or playing basketball. You really see all that knowledge and dedication out on the court. Her championship defense adds so much to her already formidable game, it separates her into a league of her own.

You really can't throw this kid any change-ups on the defensive end. She knows what you are going to do and she is going to take your best player out of the game. Combine her D prowess with her ability to hit shots from all over the floor, lead a team without being asked, and basically shrug off all appreciation because she's just doing what she loves doing, and you get a kid who any coach in the state should want on their team. On the year,

[player_tooltip player_id='384008' first='Kilah' last='Dandridge'], Spring Mills, W, 5-8, So. - Not only did [player_tooltip player_id='384008' first='Kilah' last='Dandridge'] come out fired up at the beginning of the season, but she kept building and building and improved all year long, and when the time came, she led on the court. Maybe there weren't enough shots for everyone on the Cardinals every night, but just look at what she did with the ones she had. It was plenty of damage for her team. Everyone else just had to score 15 to 10 points and the Cardinals won as a team. On the year, Dandridge tallied 15.2 points, on 58% shooting, to go along with 4.9 boards, 5.5 rebounds, and one block per game - this includes a 25-point effort against Wheeling Park in a state semifinal.

Lala Woods, Wheeling Park, PG, 5-6, So. - Anywhere [player_tooltip player_id='342221' first='Alexis' last='Bordas'] goes on the basketball court, LaLa Woods is right there with her. Right? Right. Maybe, Woods' competitive contributions don't always manifest her points,, but she grabs accolades every other way possible. She really does a great job of keeping Park level headed when things are going wrong. Like keeping them in the state title game early when no one could hit a shot. Then, when Bordas started doing her thing in the second half, Woods showed the courage to block out yelling from the stands and picked her shots more precisely. Bordas helped draw the Mohigan defenders away from the rim and Woods attacked, attacked and dished, or just started the offense again to see if her group could get a better look. More times than not, Park got that decent look. And Wheeling Park almost won the game because of those two teammates and what they have helped create around them. She did all of this not just in the state title game, but all season long. Don't forget, Woods took over when the Patriots trailed an undefeated and more than game Spring Mills group in the state semifinals. She scored 27 points and turned the engine on for good in the second half.

[player_tooltip player_id='496335' first='Ella' last='Simpson'], University, PF, 6-0, Jr. - [player_tooltip player_id='496335' first='Ella' last='Simpson'] made big strides. Huge, as a matter of fact. Imagine the improvements most kids make on the court between their freshman and sophomore year, now multiply that by about 20. Big number, huh. But, it is all 100% true. No bull. She came out fired up at the beginning and remained hot until the close. My favorite game I saw her play this year came against Parkersburg South. [player_tooltip player_id='558873' first='Lucie' last='Cline'] and Simpson enjoyed a good ole-fashioned duel as the Hawks finally pulled out a close game in the end. Simpson, of course, just went off for 32 points with zero threes. She dribbled her way through traffic and to the bucket. She just made things look easy on the floor. To say that is how the rest of the year went, well there were a few bumps, but nothing to much. Her confidence continued to grow as the season went on. She threw up 16.6 points per game, on 44% shooting, to go along with 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.4 steals per game.
