Palmer’s year at Iowa City High was nothing short of incredible. Her production as an underclassman and drawing most of the attention from the teams she played against is excellent. She was the 11th leading scorer in 5A while facing doubles, faceguards, and anything else you could imagine. Once she hits the floor this summer and gets more space to operate, she’ll only look better than she did during the high school season. She’ll pop in front of college coaches.
Laynee Hogan Laynee Hogan 5'9" | PG East Buchanan | 2025 State IA
Small school kids usually don’t get the benefit of the doubt during the high school season and have more to prove throughout the AAU season. Hogan has the physicality and skill to cause problems in situations where she gets to take her defender off the dribble in isolation. There’s a reason she’s been playing up and excelling against girls a year older than her. I would not be surprised to see her have a standout live period or two over the summer.
Savannah Gage Savannah Gage 5'10" | SG Ankeny | 2025 State IA
Gage and her Ankeny team had some big wins over the season, and that team is young and only improving. All those kids will also have summers that will continue their positive momentum, and Gage is no different. She’s a big-time athlete that can defend on the perimeter and create live ball turnovers. Her offensive game puts pressure on the defense at every level. She can get by her initial defender, and she has no fear going directly at post players under the rim. It takes a unit to slow Gage down when she gets downhill, and her overall skill has improved over the last 12 months, and I don’t think that’ll change.
Trishelle Miller Trishelle Miller 5'10" | CG Sioux City East | 2026 State IA
The Sioux City East wing ended the year as the No. 6 scorer in 5A based on average. Her ability to enter the high school game and dominate the way she did against other talented kids and teams was remarkable. Miller’s knack for scoring the ball makes her pop when you watch her play. That’ll happen over the summer. I love what she’s been able to do as a freshman, and excited to see what she can do this summer.
