The Spring Travel season has taken teams and players all across the country. Florida has been well represented and performed at a high level against some of the top competition in the country. While the 17U division is typically dominated by the class of 2024, here are some underclassmen that performing well while playing up 1-2 age classifications.
Class of 2025
Kali Barrett Kali Barrett 6'2" | SF Cardinal Mooney | 2025 State FL (Cardinal Mooney / FGB) – 6’1 Forward
Barrett is long, athletic, and versatile and can do a little bit of everything. She was instrumental in Cardinal Mooney run to Lakeland during the HS season and has followed that up with stellar performances for FGB this spring. In today’s modern day, position less basketball, Barrett build and game fit well and will transition to the college game exceptionally.
Lena Girardi Lena Girardi 5'10" | SF IMG Academy | 2025 State FL (Westminster Academy / FGB) – 6’0 Guard
Just hop on social media and look at Girardi twitter account, her talent is real and college coaches are recognizing it all across the country as the offers continue to pile up. She is a big, strong, skilled guard who is a challenging player to defend. She uses her size and strength to attack the rim, absorb contact and get into the paint and get to the free throw line often. When she is knocking down the perimeter 3, defenses are essentially helpless.
Jade Jones Jade Jones 5'11" | SF King's Academy | 2025 State FL (King’s Academy / Miami Suns) – 5’11 Guard
Jones stands out when you watch her because her effort is always at a 10. She is a competitor that in a showcase environment where everyone is looking to score, Jones is often the one getting down in a stance and guarding people, making the hustle plays, and always in the mix for 50/50 balls. She is a role player for Miami Suns Team Fowles but is hard to take off the court because of her intangibles.
Holland Harris Holland Harris 6'2" | SF Monteverde Academy | 2025 State FL (Faith Christian Academy / FGB) – 6’1 Wing / Forward
Harris missed the early part of the spring, coming off an injury but has bounced back and is 100%. Her performances for FGB in late April and May have certainly caught the attention of college coaches nationally, as her recruiting opportunities are increasing daily. At 6’1, she can play guard, wing, and forward and fill up the stat sheet in a variety of ways. Her versatility is her biggest strength and look for her stock to continue to rise and the offers to continue piling in.
Class of 2026
Jasleen Green Jasleen Green 5'9" | SF American Heritage (Plantation) | 2026 State FL (American Heritage / FGB) – 5’9 Guard
Green was named Broward County player of the year in 1A-5A as a Freshman for a reason, she can play!! The 5’9 guard has a quiet demeanor but a killer instinct on the court. She has a long wingspan and attacks off the bounce with a crafty ability to contort her body and get into the paint and finish at the rim. While she has gotten the attention of a number of college coaches, just a Freshman, look for her stock to continue to rise throughout her travel and prep seasons over the next 3 years.
