It was a great time to shine while trying to figure out who I wanted to be and what I wanted to contribute to the world. The following freshmen, though, already know who they are on the basketball court and how they can contribute. Let’s take a look at some of the freshmen (at least for a little bit longer) that I am excited about seeing grow in this great sport.
Tia Bryant Tia Bryant 6’0″ | SF NC GBB | 2026 State NC has been playing at a high level with Carolina All-Stars the past couple of seasons already getting some tough competition at a young age. She has excellent height where she can play all over the court, especially handling herself in the paint. She sees the floor well being able to catch a pass around the perimeter and know where to go with the ball whether she attacks the basket or makes another pass and cuts into the paint. She creates her own plays on defense blocking shots and grabbing the steal turning these opportunities into points on the other end.
Asia Burton Asia Burton 5’8″ | CG Franklinton | 2026 State NC is crafty with the ball getting to the hoop and tough going against anyone on the court. She gets inside for rebounds being ready for the putbacks on the offensive side of the ball. She knows how to find the openings without the ball, and she can create her own space with the ball pulling up for jumpers or keeping her defender away from the ball. Her ability to see the floor well and create scoring opportunities for her teammates is certainly helpful to have on the court.

Brook Evans Brook Evans 5’10” | SF South Central | 2026 State NC is crafty on the court using her handles to create her own space and pull up for her shots. She’s an asset everywhere on the court using strength to battle anyone on the block, and that goes for both sides of the court. She fills open lanes being ready for the pass in transition knowing how to get her defender off balance to take advantage. She’s a strong rebounder on both ends of the court as well.

Jazmeen Stone Jazmeen Stone 5’7″ | CG Mallard Creek | 2026 State NC is quick with her change of direction moves handling the ball and getting by her opponent. She has a nice turn around jumper that she can show off creating space and getting the open look, or she can work to get open without the ball being ready to put up the shot right off a pass. She will definitely make her opponent pay for being a half step behind as she attacks the basket showing off finishes on both sides of the rim.
Reagan Lindholm Reagan Lindholm 5’7″ | SG Grace Christian Sanford | 2026 State NC has already made a name for herself as a sharp shooter helping Grace Christian seal the victory in the state championship game earlier this year. She can handle the ball under pressure losing her defenders and setting up a play. She knows how to find the openings making effective cuts to get open for the pass and some points.
