Throughout this week I will be dropping some articles and write ups on players/teams that made big strides this weekend, while looking toward their future.
In this article we will focus on players/teams/programs that competed solely in the Nike – Tournament Of Champions portion of the event. Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
– State 38 Bball 17U –
State 38 Bball’s 17U team, a group out of Colorado, is one of my favorites programs that I have seen compete this year while scouting on the road. This team plays as one unit, understands each others strengths/weaknesses, and is loaded with talent across the board. Strategy wise they run a press that usually leads to a good amount of transition buckets for their squad. On top of that, I would say that the best part of watching this team play is their ability to turn their defense into offense. The guards for this squad carry the workload at the top of their press and it shows. When you mix these little things in with the type of roster they have, it’s no surprise that this group wins when it matters the most. Very good showing as a team this weekend at Nike TOC.
Krystyna LaRae Manzanarez – 2024 – PG: Manzanarez is a fun point guard to watch. She is fluid with the ball while dribbling, understands when to facilitate VS when to attack, and can be the biggest playmaker on the floor throughout a contest. I had a chance to see her play earlier this spring in Council Bluffs, Iowa and right away she stood out as a real hooper. There was much of the same glimpses this weekend. If she can consistently hit her open shots from deep, while keeping her aggressive demeanor and play-style consistent, she could be a very productive D1 point guard for a few different programs out there in the next few years.
– Waukee Jam 2025 –
The Waukee Jam 2025 team holds a roster with a few players that will have a chance to play college basketball at an elite level. Their players work hard, understand what they are trying to run in their offense, and do a good job of not settling for bad shots a majority of the time. This weekend at TOC there were several games were the Jam showed their dominance as one of the best teams in the entire tournament at the 16U level. Not to mention, that they were doing this without their two biggest players that would normally run their 4 and 5 positions. When you take this all into consideration, their weekend is even more impressive. I’m excited to see what these girls can do when they head back to their high school teams this winter after such a great developmental year in the AAU realm.
Maryne Szalo Maryne Szalo 5'10" | SF Waukee | 2026 State IA – 2026 – CG/SF: Marynę Szalo had possibly the most impressive tournament that I saw this weekend as an individual. She put up massive numbers on both sides of the floor in almost every game, while always being a big factor in her teams success. She showed great discipline on defense while having a plethora of skill moves on the offensive side of things. This is nothing new to myself but I know some college coaches out there this weekend took notice of this as well. The skill side of the game is what really interests people moving forward here. She has good size and length but when you add that with her skill, it’s eye opening. I would be shocked if her interest doesn’t sky rocket after this weekend as I’ve already had a very coaches ask about her, and what her future could hold moving forward.
Maddy Stutler Maddy Stutler CG Urbandale | 2025 State IA – 2025 – SG/SF: Stutler was another player that had a solid weekend for this Waukee Jam team. When I had the chance to sit down I watched Stutler bury a couple of threes from deep, while also being able to put the ball on the ground and finish at the rim. She stands at a good height around 6FT with the ability to stretch the floor against any defense. Her ceiling and the promise is there if she can continue her efficiency on the offensive side of the ball. Her size is going to bring a lot of eyes to her as time goes on, but after that her skill is going to have to show out and I think that is 100% possible. This weekend though, she definitely stood out to some of those watching.
Izzy Eisbach Izzy Eisbach 5'9" | SG Nodaway Valley | 2026 State IA – 2026 – PG/SG/CG: Izzy Eisbach Izzy Eisbach 5'9" | SG Nodaway Valley | 2026 State IA has been such a tough player for me to scout and watch play this year in all honestly, as its been tricky to evaluate her. Overall, she is a quick and savvy guard, who could play any position 1-3 on the floor with the guard-skill set she possesses. She has athleticism and smarts, mixed with skill when she is bringing up the ball. I wouldn’t call her a natural point guard but is maybe the best on this team at creating for others when it matters. In my opinion, her ceiling will be of a D1 basketball player over the next few years if she continues to expand her game, and become a little more efficient with her overall skill. Something that I am truly expecting to come together as time moves forward.
Devon Carlile Devon Carlile 5'7" | PG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2025 State IA – 2025 – PG/SG: Devon Carlile Devon Carlile 5'7" | PG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2025 State IA is a point guard that was running the 2 position all weekend for this squad and she was knocking down a lot of opening shots doing it. Carlile, a quick guard who understands tempo and pace, helped bring up the ball a little this weekend but more-so she was trying to spread the floor and play off of the ball a majority of the time. Which makes sense when you have a play maker like Izzy Eisbach Izzy Eisbach 5'9" | SG Nodaway Valley | 2026 State IA on your team. When this happens, a lot of players will shrink into their role and not produce as much but that was NOT the case with Carlile, as she knocked down some big time shots to keep her team close in a few of their contests. Everyone on this roster produces and helps their team in one way or another, it’s really refreshing to see, Carlile included.
– Iowa Intensity 17U –
Iowa Intensity 17U is a team stacked of young players that are still learning the game. With that being said, they are doing their best to hold their own and make a statement while playing some really talents programs. In the contests that I had the opportunity of watching of the Intensity this weekend they do a good job of getting the ball to their best player and working off of her from there. Is that always the case? Maybe not, but it’s a learning experience and that’s exactly what they are doing. This group had some intense and close battles at TOC and should be proud. They have a few nice pieces on their roster, that are going to grow into some successful college players in the near future, if they stick with it!
Breckyn Schilling Breckyn Schilling 5'11" | SF North Mahaska | 2025 State IA – 2025 – CG/SF: Breckyn Schilling Breckyn Schilling 5'11" | SF North Mahaska | 2025 State IA s stock rose this weekend, no matter if her team was winning or losing. Schilling showed that she is a versatile and athletic combo guard. I put her as a combo guard because of her mix of size and skill. When she needs to she runs the PG position for this team until she is able to go back to her regular spot on the floor. No matter what though, she is always producing in some sort of way for her team. Her physicality and patients is impressive with how she works to get to the line multiple times a contest. This weekend she was consistently shooting free throws during games, which says a lot when you take into consideration how fouls were being called these past few days. Schilling has a bright future on the court. Once she is able to thrive at one position and hone in on it, she is going to be a killer.
– West Coast Premier 17U –
WCP Basketball 17U was one of the first programs I had a chance to watch this weekend and they ran some awesome stuff. They ran multiple sets, multiple offensive motions, and several different defensive looks. Not to mention, that all the players on this team actually knew all of the plays being called out which is a rarity in a high school game, and almost unheard of in an AAU contest. This roster is one that was built on shifty guards and quick movement. They understand to get back on defense once they miss a shot and to not dwell on it. Something I wish more players/teams would realize. I’m not sure when I will have a chance to see this team perform again but I’m sure they are going to keep beating people with their fundamentals and fast game-strategy.
– Wisconsin Blizzard 2026 Hawley –
Wisconsin Blizzard 2026 Hawley is a team that I have seen play multiple times this season. This is a group with mostly guards, who can run the floor and push the pace of the game. They do have 1 player that works the center position but other than that, it’s mostly guard play that really rocks for this squad. This is another group that thrives on defense and has that lead into their looks on offense. Other then that they do the little things and that is why they win most of the games that they compete in. Everyone makes the extra pass, everyone gets on the floor ASAP for loose balls, and everyone is a great teammate. When you have a team built like this, they are sure to win some games on their effort alone. The sky is the limit for this team, I’m excited to see where they can grow to.
Lilly Kejo – 2026 – PG: Lilly Kejo was everything I thought she would be this weekend for this team. Kejo is a good sized point guard who never settles for shots and would rather get to the teeth of the defense for an easier take/finish. She brings up the ball 50% of the time for this team and gets to anywhere she wants to go. Her most impressive ability is how quickly she can get down hill and attack an opponents hips, while creating contact. When she gets into this rhythm, it can be hard to stop her. Her size, strength, and skill all added together make for a player who is a constant producer in every game she plays in, wether she is scoring or not. If she can lock in her effeicency shooting the ball over the next few season, defenses are going to need to watch out or she will be averaging 30 a game, while playing some stifling defense at the same time.
Rayanna Jenkins – 2026 – PG: Jenkins is the other half of the PG-duo on this squad. Jenkins is the smaller, faster guard between the two, who can knock down shots from deep or create for others off of the dribble at an elite rate. I had a chance to sit down for two games that this team competed in and in both Jenkins was a big time player, making big time plays. This weekend she had one game where she hit a 3 to send her team into OT, and then another 3 at the buzzer to send her team into a second OT, where they would eventually fall. In the other contest I saw, Jenkins was 5/6 from three, while leading her team in steals/assists and eventually to the overall victory in the contest. Moving forward keep an eye on this one. She has some promise to her game that could be big at the college level, if used in the correct system.
Ezra Streblow – 2026 – SF: A player that may not get a ton of hype but does a lot of positive things on the floor for her teams is Ezra Streblow. Streblow is an interesting prospect that I could consider a 2, 3, or even a 4. She has good size around 5’9/10 and uses it in her favor. She knows to post up smaller players, while stretching the floor from three against the bigger ones. She is always ready to catch and shoot it from anywhere on the court or take it to the basket for a strong finish. She seems to love physicality and that’s why her versatility shines so much to coaches. I’m not sure what her aspirations are with basketball but if she were to continue on this pace, I’m sure there is a college program out there that could use her talents in the future!
