As the grassroots season wraps up, student-athletes begin back-to-school shopping, preparing for the 2023-2024 school year. The Class of 2024, believe it or not, is approaching their Senior season, and I wanted to highlight some of the top uncommitted prospects position by position as we head into the end of Summer and the beginning of Fall. Below is a look at the Top-10 point guard prospects who remain uncommitted at this time, to the best of my knowledge.
1.
Talia Harris

Fishers | 2024

, 2024, 5-8 PG, Fishers H.S.
– Talia is a long, wiry, athletic lefty with a lot of shiftiness to her game. She has done a tremendous job throughout her career of slowing down, taking what the defense gives her, and making steady, team-oriented plays for the Lady Tigers. Her touch from the perimeter has improved, but she remains most effective on attack, creating for teammates or knocking down a variety of runners/floaters. Defensively, she uses her length and quickness well to affect the passing and driving lanes of opponents.
2.

– Camryn is another really nice point guard prospect; she is long, fluidly athletic, and somewhat smooth. She is a very good perimeter shooter who needs little space or time to get her shot away, and she can shoot it with some range. She can slice to the basket, but she is better initiating the offense and getting it back as a shooter coming off of screens. That’s why I consider her a combo guard, because she is an effective shooter/scorer off the ball. I also like her quickness and use of her length defensively.
3.
Riley Milausnic

Lake Central | 2024

, 2024, 5-7 PG, Lake Central H.S.
– Riley grew up as a point guard, but she has spent a lot of time the last three years playing off the ball because of her ability to shoot it, and she has other point guards around her. She has an extremely quick release and an athletic jumper. She can get hot and knock down five in a row no problem. But this Spring & Summer she handled the ball a lot and by July her point guard instincts looked like they had returned. I also think she’s a sneaky good defender with the ability to cause problems.
4.
Madisyn Bailey

Bedford North Lawrence | 2024

, 2024, 5-8 PG, Bedford North Lawrence H.S.
– Madisyn is kind of a throwback point guard prospect who just plays steadily. She is strong, physical, and uses her frame to fend off annoying defenders. She can get downhill North/South and attack the basket, plus she’s great at setting screens away from the action (and willing to do so), freeing up teammates. She seems more concerned with facilitating the offense and team success than scoring it herself. Defensively, she battles bigger, stronger guards, plus she will rebound and battle inside.
5.
Kenzie Fulks

, 2024, 5-7 PG, Bethesda Christian H.S.
– I’ve always enjoyed watching Kenzie play, so it was great seeing her back in action, healthy once again this Spring & Summer. She is a long, wiry-strong, but tough-nosed and feisty lead guard. For her high school team, she is a big-time scorer who can make shots outside, attack the basket and finish, or draw contact and earn repeated free throw trips. With her grassroots team, she plays with a bit of that, but she can also create and facilitate for others. Additionally, she will hawk the ball defensively.
6.
Lauren Walsh

Penn | 2024

, 2024, 5-7 PG, Penn H.S.
– Lauren still struggles with few people knowing much about her because (1) she moved in from North Carolina a couple of years ago, and (2) she has played for non-Indiana grassroots teams. However, she has noticeable skill and talent. She loves to handle the ball, she can make a number of dribble-moves to get defenders off-balance, and she can get into a defense and find open teammates. I also really like her motor and grit defensively, as she can create a series of turnovers for her opponents.
7.
Lauren Klem

Franklin Community | 2024
State
IN
, 2024, 5-1 PG, Franklin Community H.S.
– Lauren is an extremely quick, fast, and feisty little water-bug. She is a talented distance runner who is possibly eyeing opportunities in track and/or cross country. However, on a basketball court she is a problem as well. She is difficult to contain off the dribble, but she also has a dangerous perimeter jumper that extends well-beyond the arc. If given any space, she will put it up and knock them down. She has a good feel for the game, and she will get after it defensively as well. She is a skillful ballplayer.
8.
Annika Davis

Bishop Luers | 2024
State
IN
, 2024, 5-8 CG, Bishop Luers H.S.
– Annika has a solid to strong frame, she’s an all-around athlete, and she possesses nice length as well. She is a balanced, steady, versatile guard who can play on or off the ball. On the ball, she can attack the basket and create, but she also does a nice job of initiating the offense and screening/cutting without the ball. As a scorer, she is more of a downhill attacker, but she can knock down the occasional outside jumper. I also like her versatility defensively, because she has the strength to defend bigger guards/wings.
9.
Elle Marble

, 2024, 5-9 CG, Jeffersonville H.S.
– Elle has really nice height, great length, and a wiry frame. She has always been more of a point guard than a ‘2’, but she can play off the ball. She is more so smooth/fluid than explosive, and she does a nice job taking care of the basketball, not forcing shots or forcing the action. She has improved as a shooter over the years, though, plus she has gotten stronger and is absorbing contact better. I also like how she uses her length and quickness to defend, both on and off the basketball.
10.
Maddie Nipper

Charlestown | 2024
State

, 2024, 5-5 PG, Charlestown H.S.
– Maddie is another in a long line of favorites to watch. She always gets after it, she plays with sort of a quiet toughness to her, and she can affect the game at both ends of the floor. Offensively, she is a very good shooter with a quick release. She is a steady ball-handler who doesn’t try to do too much, plus she’s great at finding open teammates. Defensively, she takes good angles, understands how to anticipate actions, and she can create turnovers or at least be on time and in position to help teammates.
