With having a vast amount of skilled players out of this state, throughout all age levels, to be named as basically 1 of the Top 25 for an age group, for an entire AAU season speaks volumes. It shows to everyone watching out there that no matter the stage, competition level, or situation in front of the player – They WILL succeed. Below is the list of players selected to the 15U All State-Second Team, for the spring/summer AAU season, out of the state of Iowa. Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
One of the most promising young talents in Iowa that will be stepping onto the high school stage this winter with the Johnston Dragons is Ari Phillips Ari Phillips 5’10” | CG Johnston | 2027 State IA . Phillips is a game changer. An athlete that a coach can put the ball in her hands, say “go”, and they don’t have to worry about a correct decision being made. You know you can trust Phillips to make the best play out there, that is available to her in that moment. Other than that, she really is a complete player. Very good with the ball as the offensive orchestrator but also a hands-on defender that makes game winning plays on that side of the floor. I’m not sure how much time the 2027 class will get at Johnston high school this winter at the varsity level but no matter what, Phillips will be ready to go. As for this AAU season, she was everything I said above and more for her Iowa Battlers 15U team. A team that competed at the 17U level as well this season and held their own on every occasion.
Another player that will also being joining the power house that is the Johnston Dragons this winter is Jaliyah Kinnetz-Jenkins Jaliyah Kinnetz-Jenkins 5’9″ | PG Johnston | 2026 State IA . Jenkins is a 5’8 point guard with a shifty handle and an impressive ability to shoot the ball from deep. When I had the chance of watching Jenkins compete this spring season she was lighting it up from all over the court, while making eye opening plays on each possession. Her AAU season this year as a whole was solid. She was a player that made big shots in big moments and displayed that it’s very difficult for defenders to stay in front of her a majority of the time. Looking forward I do think it’s going to be tough for her to see the varsity floor as freshman but whatever team she is on, she is going to produce and standout above most. This is a prospect to know moving forward if you don’t already.
Emily Larsen Emily Larsen 5’11” | SF Cedar Rapids Prairie | 2026 State IA is a player that displayed great leadership and skill throughout each contest this spring/summer for her Lady Martin Bros 15U Select team. Larsen is interesting as a prospect in the aspects that she has the ability to move inside the lane and dominate the post or she can move and pass from the perimeter, usually making a good play for her team. Her size, speed, and strength are the major reasons why she dominates most she faces but if thats not enough, she also has a “bag” of skill moves she can pull out at any moment. I think the best 1-2 punch in AAU basketball throughout Iowa this season was the combination of Larsen and Brynlie Hadenfeldt. The ironic thing is that these two play high school ball together and can build on this relationship moving forward. Over the next few seasons, this could turn into something really special between the two but we will have wait and see. As for Larsen individually, she is prepped for a big winter ahead at Prairie high school.
Highlights
Aubrey Kroymann Aubrey Kroymann 6’0″ | C Maquoketa | 2026 State IA was one of the only true centers at the 15U AAU Level for the spring/summer season here in Iowa. Kroymann stands at around 6FT with experienced footwork, balance, and coordination. When she catches in the post against a smaller defender, it’s usually a bucket. She has the ability to go over either shoulder and score with either hand, or pass back out to an open guard on the perimeter if the defense brings a double-team. Defensively, she does a great job of being her size and “walling” up. She doesn’t jump at shots or try to go for risky steals. She just keeps it simple and makes it hard for her opponents to become consistent when she is defending them. This AAU season Kroymann showed a little bit of everything over her teams spring/summer campaign. A group that played with only 7-8 players each game, showed that they have a ton of heart and will leave everything on the floor each game. Something everyone out there can respect.
