With having a vast amount of skilled players out of this state, throughout all age levels, to be named as basically 1 of the Top 25 for an age group, for an entire AAU season speaks volumes. It shows to everyone watching out there that no matter the stage, competition level, or situation in front of the player – They WILL succeed. Below is the list of players selected to the 17U All State-First Team for the spring/summer. Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Where do I start with Ava Zediker Ava Zediker 5’10” | PG Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA . Zediker is a 5’10 point guard, who was the best floor general throughout the state of Iowa at the 17U level this AAU season. Going into the spring this year two things were clear to me about Zediker. 1 – She is a born leader with the ball in her hands & 2 – She will be a fantastic college point guard one day. Well she showed exactly that all spring/summer long, while helping her team to a very successful season overall as a group. When you actually break down the numbers, Zediker was the most efficient point guard throughout the entire 17U EYBL circuit. Something extremely impressive when you consider more than half the players on each 17U EYBL team seem to be ranked on ESPNw. When you think about all that, it’s easy to see why Zediker landed in this spot on the First Team. I’m expecting a big high school year out of her and her Dowling Catholic team but we will have to just wait and see.
Another AAU season in the books for Jenica Lewis Jenica Lewis 5’10” | PG Johnston | 2026 State IA and it was a big one at that. Lewis was a top player for her Pure Prep 17U E40 team all season long, leading to receiving more Division 1 offers from all across the country. Lewis is a player that is talked about nationally and will be until she graduates high school in a few years. She is a diverse guard with speed, craftiness, and skill when it comes to the game of basketball. This AAU season she has shown constant improvement as the weeks have gone on. A good example being that she has displayed that she is expanding her range on her jumper at a high and efficient rate. She has always been a very good shooter but consistency was always a question for me. Can she beat someone by shooting jump-shots when she gets stopped on the drive? I am at the point of confidently saying yes. Her ability is second to none out there on the court. She has proven on more than one occasion that she had one of the best AAU seasons in the state of Iowa for a player this spring/summer, no question about it.
Divine Bourrage Divine Bourrage 6’0″ | CG Davenport North | 2025 State IA is in the conversation for AAU Player Of The Year, as it pertains to the state of Iowa at the 17U level. Bourrage had an AAU season to remember this spring/summer. She dominated her nationally ranked competition, showed consistent development, helped her team win championships at a national level, and gained about 20 Division-1 offers in the mean time. Her mixture of size, speed, and skill is what stands out the most to scouts and recruiters. Not to mention that the way she is continuing to grow physically, as she gets older, is eye-opening & somewhat shocking. With the AAU season that she put together and the trajectory she is on currently, it’s not crazy to think that one day we will be watching her play on TV for some big crowds at the college level, and maybe even at a professional level. She just needs to keep her head down and continue to work on her personal development.
Jayla Williams Jayla Williams 5’10” | CG Ankeny | 2026 State IA is consistent, skilled, and really athletic. This AAU season she had all of that on full display for her Kingdom Hoops 17U team, in almost every contest they competed in. Williams is a hooper. A born competitor. A player that everyone wants on their team to play with, but HATES to play against at the same time. She was acting much of the same way this AAU season for her team, while showing off her skills at an impressive rate. Her combination of everything really shows promise. She currently sits with a handful of Division-1 offers as it pertains to basketball but that won’t satisfy her. She showed this AAU season that she won’t stop until everyone knows her name and her game. That she can talk the talk, and walk the walk to follow it up. Williams was definitely a top guard I saw compete in general this spring/summer, across all age levels. At the end of her high school career I have a feeling Williams is going to get the choice of where she would like to go and what sport she would like to compete in. She is going to have a good amount of schools interested, she just needs to find the right fit.
Jordan Speiser Jordan Speiser 6’2″ | SG Lutheran St. Charlres | 2025 State MO isn’t from the state of Iowa but she played for an Iowa based EYBL team all season long, and so I think it is fair game for her to be included on this list. Speiser is an impressive prospect coming out of the state of Missouri. She has college-level size at 6’3, moves well down the court on a consistent basis, has the ability to step out and knock down a deep three, and can defend 3-5 at a high level. This AAU season Speiser had all of this and more on display for her All Iowa Attack 17U EYBL team. She showed a great sense of the game and that at the forward position, no one can stick with her consistently throughout an entire contest. Her ability to shoot the ball so well, really helps her dominate her matchups each and every game. I’m not sure where Speiser will end up for college ball but wherever it is, she is going to be able to produce right away. Definitely the best forward I saw compete throughout Iowa this 2023 AAU season.
