For several of these players, they are going into their junior or senior year of high school ball and have already figured out what they want out of the college “experience”. Below are 5 players that have either recently received offers to play at the college level or have recently committed to play at the college level in the near future. Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
A few weeks ago Taylor Hansen Taylor Hansen 5’10” | PF Millard West | 2024 State NE of Millard West high school committed to Simpson College in Iowa to continue her basketball career at the college level. Hansen is a hard-working and multi-demential player on the court. She can move between a handful of spots while having a specific ability at each position to help her thrive against her competition. I’m expecting a big year out of Millard West when it comes to this high school season If Hansen stays hungry and keeps up her hard work, this team will thrive once again this winter.

McKenna Yates McKenna Yates 5’7″ | PG McCool Junction | 2028 IA is a big time scoring threat at the high school level in the state of Nebraska. A player that reached the 1000 point club during her junior year, sure knows how to score in bunches against her opponents. Wether it’s in the open court coming down the floor or in a slower half-court setting, it doesn’t matter, Yates is a bucket. As of must recent, Yates has been offered by Division 2 – Augustana University out of South Dakota to continue her college career. I’m not sure where she will end up committing to or when, but whoever gets her is getting a player that they will be able to sculpt into a very productive college athlete. As for this winter, I’m expecting much of the same out of Yates. A scoring monster on the offensive end that can also get stops for her team on defense when they needed it the most.
Lilliana Petersen Lilliana Petersen 6’0″ | C Omaha Central | 2024 State NE is one of the most dominate power forwards throughout the state of Nebraska coming into this winter season at Omaha Central high school. Petersen stands at 6 foot and knows her own strength. She is a player that can sit in the post and score on smaller opponents each possession or she can bring the ball out to the three point line and make a good pass to a cutting teammate in their offense for an easy bucket. Defensively she is a game changer. Someone that the opponent has to worry about once they beat their initial defender going to the hoop because if not, it’s going to be a block party for Petersen. As of most recent Petersen has received an offer to play at Southeast CC in Lincoln, NE. I’m not sure if that’s where she will necessarily end up but it’s always good to see offers come in. It means that the players hard work is paying off and the college level can attest to that. It’ll be interesting to see where she goes when it’s all said and done.
At the beginning of August Adyson Mlnarik Adyson Mlnarik 5’8″ | PG Summerland | 2024 State NE received three offers to play college basketball after her senior year of high school this winter. Those three offers were to Northeast CC, Central CC, and Brair Cliff University in Iowa. Mlnarik is a gamer. A player that understands her job on the floor and tries her best at it, in all situations. The interest for Mlnarik has risen this past AAU season and into this fall. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a few more offers presented to the talented guard before the high school season begins. A player with the type of shooting stroke that Mlnarik has is going to produce at the next level, she just needs to find the correct fit. Which, I’m sure she will.

When I had the chance to watch Serena Heeren Serena Heeren 6’0″ | PF Lincoln Northeast | 2024 State NE compete this spring she stood out right away as a player that could play at the next level. As of most recent Heeren has committed to continue her college career at Iowa Western in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Heeren is going to bring her diverse play-making ability to the college floor and I’m sure she is going to flourish. She is the type of competitor that takes everything on the court personally but off of it, is a super kind individual. There aren’t a ton of young athletes out there that can keep this type of emotion separated and when you see it, you know that person is a competitor in whatever they do. That’s the same case here. I’m excited to make it out this winter and see what Heeren can do on the high school floor for her senior season. I’m sure it’s going to be nothing short of astonishing.
