Continue ReadingUp against the defending Class 6A state champs, Riley put forth an incredible effort against River Ridge. The senior guard exploded for 30 of her team’s 42 points in an 18-point loss. Every time Bensman touched the ball, something good happened. She scored from all levels, finding great success especially on drives, dropping in floaters, scoring through contact and finishing with both hands. Riley drained five threes and collected 6 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block. Considering the opponent, Bensman put forth one of the best efforts you will see at the fall league.
Through two weeks, leading the league in scoring at 21.5 points per game is none other than freshman phenom C’India Dennis C’India Dennis 5’4″ | PG Creekside | 2027 State GA . CeCe led the charge in a thrilling 49-44 overtime win against North Paulding, erupting for 28 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Dennis sank three threes and went 9-10 from the foul line. She is an elite playmaker with such a smooth feel for the game. It took CeCe a while to hunt her offense in Week 1, but that certainly wasn’t an issue Week 2. Expect Dennis to stay atop the leaderboard all season long. She is a budding star and a bona-fide D-I prospect.
Highlights
Four three-pointers sprung Shaw to a 16-point performance. Armani also provided stingy defense, swiping away 4 steals in a rout of Alexander. Shaw is now tied for second most three-pointers made (5) in the league.
Highlights
Kayla Cleaveland Kayla Cleaveland 6’0″ | PF River Ridge | 2025 State GA found her groove quickly, draining a pair of early threes as she finished with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals and 1 block in a win over Pope. The lefty sank four jumpers and went 3-4 from the line. Cleaveland’s soft touch from the perimeter along with her quickness to balls and ability to bang in the paint makes her one of the state’s more versatile offensive prospects.
Kennerly produced 14 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks in Hiram’s season debut. She went 4-7 from the line and found all her points inside the arc. Part of Hiram’s attacking style of play, Hadiya will have plenty of chances to fill up the box score with her aggressiveness.
I am thankful that Kaden decided to suit up for the fall league. She’s one of the state’s most productive bigs with not enough fanfare. D-III schools are wisely hunting her services. McCorvey put up 9 points, 16 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks against Creekside. Kaden’s ability to rebound in traffic and her patience with her back to the basket on offense make her one of my favorite forwards to watch.
