We’ve already discussed some of the new names added, and we’ve mentioned a few of the stock risers in the group. Let’s take a look at part II of the stock risers from the latest update.
Lanie Edwards has really been expanding her game with her ability to handle the ball, create some space, and score her points. She sees the floor well finding the open lanes and making nice passes to her teammates to get an offense going. She can knock down her shot from around the perimeter, too. Her ability to move laterally helps her maintain a high level of defense.
Summer Thomason has a nice stroke from around the arc, and she does the work without the ball to get open to shoot off the pass. Her quick release makes it difficult for defenders to try to catch up with her. Her ability to read the floor is apparent with the way she can pass and cut filling in open lanes looking for the ball again to score at the rim. She hustles up the court being ready for a pass in transition, and she can definitely handle the ball coast to coast herself.
Autumn Washington continues to be one of the most versatile athletes in this class as she can fill in any role for her teams. She’s athletic and quick handling the ball getting by her defenders, and she can use her height to make some moves inside the paint. She rebounds well on both ends of the court elevating up and over her opponents. She’s explosive with her cuts, too, knowing how to make her move to lose her defender.
Highlights
Cecily Swimmer is a guard who will do it all for her team. She handles the ball well under pressure knowing exactly how to split defenders on a trap or make a move to get around them. She is constantly moving without the ball on offense flashing across the court finding the gaps and making the defense shift with her. She’s tough inside going after rebounds on both ends.
Highlights
Ameya Brown is so quick and explosive with the ball. She can attack the basket from anywhere or stop suddenly to pull up for an open jumper as her defender skates by. She knows how to make adjustments with her shot as she attacks the paint showing off floaters and layups depending on what her defender is showing her. Her shot from deep is sure to go through the hoop, and she knows how to stay focused on her shot even when contact is coming her way.
