I’m sure more kids will become significant figures within their programs, but these are my initial players to watch this upcoming high school season.
Kardyn Peppler Kardyn Peppler 5'7" | PG Hortonville | 2027 State WI
Stop me if you’ve heard about how good a Peppler is before because if you can believe it, Kardyn Peppler Kardyn Peppler 5'7" | PG Hortonville | 2027 State WI is another talented kid from her family coming through the ranks at Hortonville. The main difference between her and older sister and former Ms. Basketball, Kamy, is that Kardyn seems more of a calming presence than her older sister, who wears her emotions on her sleeve. Kardyn never seemed to get rattled competing against some of the most talented kids in the country who were a year older than her. She makes good decisions with the ball in her hands, and pressure never seems to faze her.
The athleticism that Alic has is game-changing. Watching her cover ground to contest kids’ shots on the perimeter is something to behold. I love the effort she plays with on both ends of the floor, and she creates advantages when she gets out and runs in transition. She’s stepping foot into a program that hasn’t had much success recently but has been better over the past season. There’s a chance she could become one of the better players in the FVA and help raise the level of her program with her ability.
Adding Zehner to the Warhawks roster is a perfect example of the rich getting richer. I believe every team could use a guard like Zehner, even when you have the backcourt talent Arrowhead possesses. No matter what role you have Zehner playing, she’ll fit into it. If she’s an off-ball guard, she’ll cut, pass quickly off the catch, or attack the basket against recovering defenses. In a scenario where she has the ball, she can initiate a score off the dribble, run the pick-and-roll offense, and take care of the ball. There won’t be a drop-off if some of the talented youngsters from last year’s team have to sit for any reason because Zehner is that good.
Krull is one of the few players who’s played up over the past few seasons, and she physically looks like she’s been playing up for a while. Of everyone coming into high school this season, Krull is probably the most physically prepared to excel against girls two or three years older than her. She’s a powerful athlete who likes to get downhill and can shoot well behind the three-point line. Because of the addition of Elle Krull Elle Krull 5'8" | SG Appleton Xavier | 2027 State WI , Xavier could become a threat for some hardware this season.
