So, the people I talk about today may commit tonight. However, I want to talk about a few seniors who aren’t committed to playing basketball at the next level.
Audrey Norville Audrey Norville 5'10" | SF St. Mary Catholic | 2024 State WI
What makes Norville intriguing as a player is the positional versatility she brings. She can find mismatches on the wing, score over and around guards in the paint, shoot it from the 3-point line, and play under control. She’s been an integral player in her team’s success over the past few seasons and will have more responsibility this season. Norville’s a plug-and-play kid in most systems, and once she gets comfortable playing in a college scheme, she’ll be a part of a rotation.
Of all the kids in Wisconsin’s 2024 class who’ll play small school basketball, Berg may be the kid I’m most confident in succeeding at the next level. Nothing she does is more than what it needs to be, and she’s been a winning player at Menomonie. After a below .500 record in the 19-20 season, Berg comes into high school in 20-21, and they’ve had winning seasons each of the past three seasons. That’s not all down to Berg, but she’s been a prominent figure for the Mustangs since she arrived. Berg shoots it at a high level, stays in front defensively, doesn’t turn the ball over, and makes intelligent decisions with the basketball. There are kids with more flash that’ll make more imaginative plays, but Berg will always do what’s best for her team to win games, and that’s what the Mustangs have done these past few seasons.
Maddie Schopf Maddie Schopf 5'6" | SG Kettle Moraine | 2024 State WI
Over the past few seasons, Schopf’s play got lost in the discourse while Kettle Moraine was winning state titles, but she was one of the most integral figures in those two teams. Schopf was confident when she got her time on the floor and made some big shots over the past two seasons. Whether at the Resch Center or home against Arrowhead, Schopf has been a kid the Lasers have counted on, and she’s delivered every time. She’s one of my favorite small-school prospects in this class because her shooting is legit.
Some kids have a knack for making plays, and Peed fits that description to a tee. No matter where I’ve seen her play, Peed makes things happen on both ends of the floor. She’s the perfect off-ball wing that can make a team better. She moves away from the ball, can play in the middle of a zone offense, runs the baseline for zone offense, finds cutters, makes perimeter jumpers, finishes around the basket, and won’t shy away from defending elite players. If Peed decides to play basketball at the college level, that program will get an absolute steal.
