Prospects to See During the May Live Period

The second live period of the year begins later this week, and there will be events all over the country where our fellow Wisconsinites will play and be seen by coaches at the next level. Over the next few days, we will look at some players who could intrigue coaches at the next level and put themselves on those coaches' radars. Let's highlight some Wisconsin natives who could impress coaches this coming weekend.    The Janesville Craig guard is a player who can make things happen with the ball. She is light on her feet and can change directions quickly to beat her defender off the dribble and work into space. Green has the skill to score from all three levels and make plays for herself and her teammates. I also love that she can play through contact in the paint. There is room for her to grow, but she is a skilled player who will improve as she matures.     The Oshkosh native is a player who can use her physical tools to swing any game she plays in. Nelson is an excellent athlete with the athleticism and physicality to defend multiple positions and wreck a game defensively. I also believe she's a more well-rounded offensive piece than many probably give her credit for. I've seen her create for others and get to her spots. Her shot has improved over the past two years, and looks better than the high school numbers would suggest.     Few players can create as well as Zehner. As a ball handler, she can beat her defender off the dribble and get to her spots whenever she wants, and she never lacks confidence. The first time I saw her play, which may have been her first high school game, she airballed a free throw, but it never affected her. She's a mentally tough kid who will be able to handle any amount of adversity she may face at the next level.     The Appleton native is a player who can shoot a defense out of a game in a hurry, and she's done it multiple times in her high school career. Sweeney is a guard who can handle the ball and make plays off the dribble, but is most valuable because of her gravity as a perimeter shooter. Any time she gets an open look from the perimeter, you can feel the defense tense up when she gets open looks from beyond the arc.
