The overall competition level, the rivalries and emotion, the skill level of the players competing is at an all time high and it’s only going to go up from here. In the article below we will be highlighting four players that college recruiters should pay close attention to over this next season. Each player is an individual who could have breakout year and demonstrate that they can compete at the next level.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Haylee Stokes Haylee Stokes 5’6″ | PG Estherville Lincoln Central | 2025 State IA is a college level scorer and she has proven that over the past 2 years of high school ball. Stokes is a patient and quick-thinking Point Guard. There isn’t really anything that Stokes can’t do but she excels at putting the ball in the basket because of her coordination and skill-set. It doesn’t matter if you force her to go right, left, shoot a jumper, or take a floater, most of the time if Stokes gets a clean look, its going to be a make. This winter Estherville Lincoln Central will attempt to make it back to the State Tournament, once again, on the back of Stokes. She isn’t going to be this teams only factor to make it far this season but definitely their most important in the grand scheme of things.
A player that I have not had a chance of seeing too often up until this point is Maddie Casey Maddie Casey SG Liberty | 2025 State IA but her body of work speaks for itself. As of most recent, Casey has received an offer from William Jewell to compete at the collegiate level but that won’t satisfy her. The small and shifty guard has her eyes set on putting together a breakout season at Liberty this winter, while she continues to show potential recruiters that she can bring several different positives to the table. In this 2025 Update, Casey jumped into our rankings at #62. Something she should be proud of but again, won’t be satisfied with moving forward. I will be in attendance to see some Liberty High School games this season and I’m excited to see what they can put together.
I have recently written about Grace Linder Grace Linder 5’11” | SF West Des Moines Valley | 2025 State IA over these past few months so I am going to keep this short and sweet. Linder is a 6FT CG/SF, that is showing the steady expansion of her game every time that I have a chance to see her. Up until this point, Linder hasn’t gotten to see the varsity floor a whole lot because of the older players that are on the roster, above her. I think that this winter that could all change though. I’ve seen this Valley team’s varsity roster and if the coaching staff plays their cards correctly, they could have one of the biggest and most dominating teams in their class. Will that happen? Only time will tell but I think that this could be a big winter for everyone in this program.
Highlights
Like I have mentioned a lot in my evaluations the past few days, Dowling Catholic High School should have a chance to win it all this year in their Class. Their roster is loaded with skilled players, a great coaching staff, and a nice system in place. One of those skilled players that is going to have a chance to step up big time this winter is Layla Trytten Layla Trytten 5’9″ | CG Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA . Trytten has demonstrated over these past few months that she is a guard, that can hold her own on the court. she moves effortlessly with the ball in her hands and displays an accurate three level scoring ability. Like all players, there are some things that Trytten does better than others but in general, she can bring production to the floor while not turning over the ball. Something that is going to be needed in big moments this season when Dowling Catholic’s star players get double/triple teamed. Keep en eye out this winter for Trytten and her Maroon’s team. They are prepped and ready get this season underway.
