This camp had players coming from all over the country to compete on just a few courts and some players really showed out. Below I will be highlighting the individuals that stood out the most to me from afar.
(Something to note – Like I mentioned above, I was not in attendance so I am ONLY going off of all the film that I have seen/been given.)
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
This season is going to be an important one for Jenica Lewis Jenica Lewis 5’10” | PG Johnston | 2026 State IA and from what I’ve seen at this camp, she is more than locked in. Lewis was dishing out assists before her teammate could get to their spots coming down the floor, she was scoring at high rates, and she was putting on a show throughout most of the day. It’s to no surprise that Lewis would dominate the competition at this event and that’s what she did. This winter the Johnston Dragons are coming in as the 5A favorites to hoist the Championship trophy. Lewis is going to be a big part of that teams success as long as she stays motivated moving forward. Something that I’m sure won’t be an issue speaking about the #23 player in the 2026 Class nationally, according to ESPNW.
Divine Bourrage Divine Bourrage 6’0″ | CG Davenport North | 2025 State IA had one of the biggest stock-rising AAU seasons this past 6 months and she is looking to build on the momentum moving forward. Anyone who watched or attended this camp could easily tell that Bourrage was a Top 3 player of the day and that says something when she is competing against some of the best players in the nation, according to ESPNW. Bourrage was creating off of the dribble, she was defending like her life depended on it, and she was being an overall great teammates to others around her. Like I hinted to, Bourrage’s college recruitment is on fire right now and it’s not going to slow down anytime soon. By the end of high school she will have 30-40 Division-1 offers. Where will she end up though? We will have to wait and see..
Grace Lucero-Miner
Grace Lucero-Miner
Grace Lucero-Miner is a name to know out of the Midwest moving forward. If you don’t know it now, learn it. Lucero-Miner is only a 7th grader and she did more then hold her own at this event. On several occasions, Miner was mixing up her defender with a nasty dribble and creating for herself or her teammates. In most one-on-one matchups that I saw Miner compete in, she ended up winning the battle in the end. Which is impressive because she had to be one of the youngest players in the gym, if not thee youngest. I saw glimpses of Division-1 talent at this event out of Miner. Her progression over the next few years will be key but all I can say at this point is that her future is very, very bright on the basketball court.
Jhaliana Guy Jhaliana Guy 5’10” | PG Bettendorf | 2028 IA is a big part of the future of women’s high school basketball in the state of Iowa. She just needs to get through her 8th grade year this winter first and then she will be ready to roll. Guy is a sensational talent, that I have projected to be a Top 25 player in her Class – Nationwide. She stands at 5’9/10 already and has a balanced amount of skill with the ball in her hands. Right now, she would be described as a Combo Guard because she can play the 1, 2 or 3 spot but eventually she will be asked to move to just one position. This probably won’t come until college ball but that’s ok. As for this camp, Jhaliana took care of business per usual. She scored at will, dominated defensively, and was an all around hustle player. It’ll be exciting to see what she can do next winter with the Bulldogs but for now, she will worry about the 8th grade season she has coming up ahead.
Highlights
I first had the chance of seeing Malaina Hackley Malaina Hackley 4’9″ | PG Roosevelt | 2026 State IA perform at our PGH IA Top 250 last month and I was impressed by her performance. After that and seeing the film from this past weekend, I am confident in saying that Hackley is one of the best passers in the state. She maybe undersized but she makes up for it with her passing ability and knowledge of the game.To be a great passer, you need to understand timing, situations, and your own ability to a T. Not to mention, there aren’t many 1 on 1 situations, guard wise, where I would pick another player to stop Hackley in the open court. Just to stay in front of her is a challenge, never-mind about the passing stuff. This winter is going be intense across high school basketball. A lot of players are really locked in, including Hackley, and because of that, the competition level should be at an all time high.
