Fall Ball: Soph/Freshman Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On September 9th I attended the&nbsp;<strong>Best in the West Girls Fall League</strong>&nbsp;at Sandra Day O'Connor. I watched the first five games with six different teams playing. Here are some of the standouts I viewed.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">We move over to the Sophomore/Freshman Standouts:</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>2026</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='603672' first='Audrey' last='Bhesania'] Sandra Day O'Connor</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the top sophomores can simply do a little bit of everything. She can shoot the catch three in bunches, handles it like a point forward and will rebound the ball and push it up the court like a guard. She has quick hands to bother her opponents.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='758879' first='Bella' last='Overlock'] Sandra Day O'Connor</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A newcomer to the website is a wing forward. She can handle it and hit perimeter shots. She uses the runner and can drive and kick it to a teammate. She is a smart defender anticipating to collect steals and rebounds well. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='758873' first='Star' last='Nwabichie'] Paradise Honors (Pictured)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A fluid and graceful mover who will close out quickly to shooters and blocks anything in the paint near her. She will grab a rebound off the glass and go coast to coast. She uses a euro move in traffic and takes long strides to get to the basket.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong style="font-weight: bold">[player_tooltip player_id='677263' first='Neveah' last='Limbacher']</strong><b> Kellis</b></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A tall power forward moves well with legit size. The lefty can power her way to score over the post players. She can use a nice drop step move and scores on put backs. She is a next level shot blocker in and out of her area and contests even more. Just her presence alone bothers her opponents.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='660218' first='Shanielle' last='Mallory'] Kellis</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A pure point guard who can also score. She has real blow by speed and is very hard to stay in front of. She is right hand dominant but still gets to her spots with her speed and knows how to change speeds. She can catch and shoot from the three or off the dribble. She can thread the needle to make a play and has very long arms to play the passing lanes on defense.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='758872' first='Luz' last='Marion'] Kellis</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long wing defender with good size. She keeps all girls in front of her regardless of if they are tiny guards or taller forwards. She will rebound and even block shots. Offensively can score on layups and hit the corner three off the catch. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='749670' first='Noelle' last='Mulvanny'] Dream City</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A good sized wing forward will block shots and finishes efficiently around the basket with floaters and layups. She will dive on the floor for loose balls and rebounds in and out of her area with a big motor.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>2027</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='723419' first='Ava' last='Schooler'] Sandra Day O'Connor</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A talented incoming freshman is a physical guard to get downhill. She will often cut to the basket to score. She has a quick first step to get to the rim, she will make catch threes with a high arc and is a good passer in transition.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
