SubscribeNovember 15th I attended the first game of the AIA season at Basha HS as they took on the Top-10 Perry Pumas. The Bears struggled last season but they have an improving roster and some promising youth. They should be in the 6A playoffs this season.
Perry meanwhile was without some of their stars due to the transfer rule and a couple of their older players were sick or injured so they had a very young roster on this night. Basha ended up upsetting Perry 70 to 64 with big nights from Beckler and Sword.
I first watched the Junior Varsity game and found some nice young talent.

An almost throw back center. She has good hands and decent post footwork with rare size. She mostly uses her right hand but is very effective with it. She shoots her free throws well and is a natural rebound chaser getting extra opportunities for her team.
Alex Baczynski SF 5’8 2026 Perry
A wing forward with some versatility. She grabs the rebound and can push it. She has a good motor to rebound and made one impressive euro step down the lane. She can pull-up but can keep developing. One to monitor moving forward.

Basha (Pictured)
A lefty point guard who is very quick and fast with active hands on defense. There are not many faster then her and she has a nice mid-range jumper and a polished runner. She also can make some plays with her passes up the court and will drive and kick it. She has a tight crossover and can rise up and hit the three with range. She played 3 quarters on varsity and was so good that she may not play JV anymore.

A do-it-all forward can get downhill with either hand in traffic. She is a top level rebounder for her position and will get on the floor and hustle. She scores it around the basket using her body smartly, but will also step out and shoot the three plus hit the mid-range J.

Even with her leg in a brace she played well. She can hit the mid-range jumper but she has a pretty touch from the three line with real range and a super quick trigger. She made a pivotal three that was from the parking lot to take a late 54-53 lead and eventually held on to win.
Rose Bosch Rose Bosch 5'7" | CG Basha | 2026 AZ Basha
The younger sister of Torin Bosch showed some nice flashes. She has a quicker burst and a good handle to go with a high feel for the game. She will throw up the court passes in stride. She can get to the basket and score thru contact and has a nice floater game.

The top scorer in the program has a big arsenal to utilize. She is a natural three level scorer who can create her own offense off the dribble. She will also post up and go to work and will blow by her defender to score. She is an outstanding rebounder for a guard and has some strength and toughness. She hit a clutch three and mid-range jumper late in the game.

The Montana transfer can do it all. She can handle it like a point forward and is an incredible passer. She has a sneaky quick first step but truly changes speeds well. She can take it coast to coast, hit the three and takes contact well. On defense she has long arms to plays the passing lanes and her IQ is so high, she is very hard to get by. She also had maybe seven deflections impressively.

A long strider with good size is the younger brother of Tevian Jones. She can score around the basket with layups and short jumpers but she is a defensive stud. She moves her feet well in space and is very fast from baseline to baseline. She blocks shots in her area and rebounds at a high level.

Another freshman got the start tonight and held her own. She is good defensively to rip some pockets and get the two on the other end with good speed. She has a nice initial burst of speed to get into the paint and is highly competitive.
